Default Walkthrough to making Gaming Reviews

Greetings forumers and a warm welcome to the Other Games forum. Below is a short walkthrough on writing Game Reviews. Unlike the thread located here, these game reviews should be more detailed and informative. So without further ado, let us get on with the walkthrough.

Review tags

The Topic Title for game reviews should be tagged like this: [Game Review] Resident Evil II

Alternatively, if you're interested in a game, and not sure if it's good or what is it about, you can request for a Game Review by creating a thread with a title tag like this: [Game Review Req] Tales of Destiny
The Topic Description will follow as above. Anyone who has fair knowledge of the game is allowed to take the request.

Starting off

For the heading, you may want to give a brief layout of the game like this:

Name: The name of the game
Developer: The Developing Company that created the game (e.g. Capcom, EA, Blizzard etc.)
Genre: Horror, RPG, MMORPG, Action, Adventure, Puzzles, Fighting, Racing, Sports, Strategy. Remember, games can include more than one genre.
Platform: Computer, PS2, Wii etc. Remember, some games can be played on two or more platforms.
Difficulty: Whether the learning curve for the game is high or low. If possible, explain why the game would be leveled at that difficulty.
Game Requirements: This will only apply to computer games. Listed here should be the requirements for the game to be played smoothly on your computer.
Number of players: How many players the game can support.

The Main Body

This should be the main part of the review. It should include a brief storyline of the game. Things you might want to add would be some basics of the game; brief bios of the characters in the game, how is the gameplay like (battle sequence, world map, side quests etc.), the graphics of the game and other stuffs you might want to add.

After the storyline would be your own lowdown on the game. Things you might want to add would be:

- How did you find the game overall? Fun? Boring? Interactive?
- What are your personal feelings on the characters, storyline, gameplay etc.
- What makes this game unique from other games.
- Stuffs you think would make the game better.
- Would you recommend the game?

Reviewer Ratings

Finally, as the reviewer, you can give ratings for the game. These will be on a scale from one to ten.

Gameplay 9 (how good is the battle engine, is the world map well-designed, are the sub-quests fun)
Graphics 8 (how good are the graphics in the game, are the FMV stunning)
Music 7 (battle themes, city themes, world map themes; how good are they)
Storyline 10 (how good was the overall story, was every character given a good background storyline)
Overall 8.5 (either give your own rating, or take the average of the four ratings from above)

Miscellaneous stuffs before starting your adventure

These are some things you must note before starting the walkthrough.

- Do refrain from using too many spoilers. There may be people who has not played the game yet, so please do not spoil the game for them. If it is necessary to use spoilers, use the spoiler tag.
- It's okay to review games that are bad. That way, avid gamers would not go and purchase a bad game.
- It is recommended to include informative links about the game. Notable links would be youtube, wikipedia and gamespot.
- Large pictures are limited to two per review. Only small portraits of the characters in the game when writing their bios have no picture limit.
- Any questions about this walkthough can be directed here and I will attend to the as soon as possible.

That's all folks

With that, you are good to go for the review making. Hope you will have fun creating them.
