Waking a Sleeping Giant - Bringing back the Glory Days
Waking the Sleeping Giant - Bringing back the Glory Days
Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club. One of the biggest Clubs in Football History. With the History that this club has had it is almost an impossible task to take on, especially with the Chairman so demanding of your league position and cup run. It isn’t just the board that’s demanding, it’s the fans as well. The Tottenham fans have not seen there team lift some silverware since 1999 when won they beat Leicester 1-0 in the final of the Carling Cup, then known as Worthington Cup. What’s more, Tottenham haven’t won the League since the 1961/62 season when they became the first team to win the double, winning both the league and the FA Cup. With the previous manager, Martin Jol, giving Tottenham there highest league finish in the Premiership, 5th place to seasons in a row, and becoming the first manager to get Tottenham in to the UEFA Cup through the league, the board felt that he couldn’t take the club forward, thus leading to his firing.
Tom Baker, a past Professional footballer, and Tottenham fan is set to take Martin Jol’s place as manager of the club. The fans, hoping for a manager with more history in winning competitions, are disappointed at hearing that Tom Baker is set to take the job, although nothing has yet been confirmed. Whatever the outcome of the boards decision, history will be made at Tottenham and a new era begins to spark within the club.

Waking a Sleeping Giant - Bringing back the Glory Days Post #2
That’s what I read when I read the newspaper while eating lunch with my Assistant Manager, Chris Hughton. It seems I would have a lot to do to win the fans over as they think I’m sending them to the Championship. I stared at the headline, disheartened by the fans thought of me, even though I knew that the press had probably exaggerated the fans opinion of me.
Chris Hughton: “Tom, stop reading the paper, it’s a load of rubbish.”
I closed the paper, then folded up.
Chris Hughton: “I thought I could talk about the team while we were he. I’m sure you know a lot about, as you’re a Spurs fan.”
Tom Baker: “Well, I like to say I know enough, but I’d like your opinion on things. You have been working at the club for a long time, you must know a lot.”
Chris Hughton: “Well then, I’m sure you know who the best player in the squad is. Dimitar Berbatov.”
Tom Baker: “I knew he would be. He is a key player of the squad. Any teams interested in him?”
Chris Hughton: “Man United have been interested in him several time, but they don’t seem to want him now they’ve got Tevez. You should try and keep Dimitar, whatever the cost. As you said, he is a key player of a squad.”
Tom Baker: “OK. Are there any potential Berbatovs for the future?”
Chris Hughton: “Well, I wouldn’t say a future Berbatov, but I would say a future star. Tomás Pekhart. He looks a strong player for the future.”
Tom Baker; “OK.”
Chris Hughton: “A strongest midfield player looks to be Jermain Jenas. Our Centre Midfields look strong, but our left and right midfielders could do with some backup. Aaron Lennon on the right, he has great skill which I’m sure you’ve seen, but we need backup. We have Wayne Routledge that plays on the right but he isn’t strong enough to play in the first team. On the left, Steed Malbranque. He can play in the centre and on the right as well but we haven’t got cover for him. These are my concerns for the squad.”
Tom Baker: “OK, and who is our best youngster in midfield?”
Chris Hughton: “Tom Huddlestone looks very pleasing.”
Tom Baker: “OK, what about the defence. I know Ledley King is our strongest defender. Who is our best youngster.”
Chris Hughton: “Younes Kaboul. He looks like he is going to be a great player. Keep hold of him.”
Tom Baker: “OK then. I think that’s everything.”
They finished there lunch then bid the farewells before driving home.

Today I signed two Midfield players, as my midfield was the weakest part of my squad.
I signed Stewart Downing, so i can use him on the left and use Steed Malbranque as a cover for the whole of midfield. I also bought another cover for midfield, Alfred Phiri.
I won all my friendlies, other than one which I drew. My Assistant Manager, Chris Hughton managed these games so I don't know what happened, I'll just say the results.
Sheffield Utd 0-0 Tottenham
Leyton Orient 0-2 Tottenham
Tottenham 2-0 Heerenveen
Stevenage 0-4 Tottenham

That team was the team I named for the away game at Fratton Park. The opening was going to be very hard, Pourtsmouth were a tough team and Fratton Park was a hard place to go. I encouraged my team to go out there and try a snatch a win, highlighting the threat of Pompey striker, John Utaka. We went out there and played well in a tight game, Dimitar Berbatov scoring the goal which was given offside. My team kept going at Pompey, but Pompey also came at me. Eventually, my team got a goal. Robbie Keane putting a ball into Berbatov's feet who took it around Sol Campbell and slipping it past David James. I stood out from the dug out to congratulae Berbatovs fantastic finish. The game was close right until the finish, with Paul Robinson making several great saves to keep us in the lead. Soon the final whistle went and we stole 3 points at Fratton Park.
Pourtsmouth 0
Tottenham 1 Dimitar Berbatov (9)
