Shock appointmetment for SKA - 18/02/06
In an unprecedented move, unknown manager, Ross Somerville, has been awarded the managerial position at local side SKA Khabarovsk.
Somerville, who has just recently completed his coaching badges at the highly respected Largs Academy in Scotland, has been offered, and accepted, a 1 year deal at SKA Khabarovsk, reputedly worth £7,800 per year, despite speaking no Russian.
The Khabarovsk Evening Press understands that Somerville will take control for tonights friendly match away to Smena Komsomolsk-na-Amure.
In a press conference this afternoon, Khabarovsk chairman Nikita Rogochiy stated that the board had full confidence in their new appointnment.
Just so you know, this game is being played to full LLM rules, therefore, no tipping regarding tactics, players and anything else that may give me help! Much appreciated!

Smena Komsomolsk-na-Amure - 1 SKA Khabarovsk - 5
New manager, Ross Somerville, watched over his side as they demolished non-league outfit Smena 5-1 during last nights friendly match.
Somerville, who is yet to give an interview since his appointment, smiled as Vasily Karmazinenko banged in a double in the 1st 20 minutes. Captain Alexey Poddubskiy also scored a brace in a first half the eastern Russian side dominated.
The new manager made several changes after half time, however, this did not prevent SKA from controlling the match as striker Roman Radchenko scored on the 67 minute mark to put the game out of reach.
To compound matters, Smena had striker Danil Makarov sent off for elbowing Radchenko in the 84th minute, although Dimtry Gerasimenko, one of the few Smena players who had a good game, scored a consolation goal in the 91st minute.

Just so you know, this is FMS where LLM rules are not enforceable. As I said to someone else, it is highly unlikely that someone would suggest players or tactics or whatever but if they were to do so, they would not be breaking any rules.
It was more of a "please don't ruin my game" as opposed to "you're not allowed to." I don't expect anyone to follow my rules, I just hope they don't in this story.

In an exclusive interview with Khabarovsk Kai's No. 1 paper, new SKA Khabarovsk manager, Ross Somerville, has outlined, through an interpreter, his hopes for the club, his opinions on Russian football and his thoughts on life so far in Khabarovsk.
We are welcomed into the Somerville household, a modest 2 bedroom flat, and offered a 15 year old Glenkinchie Scotch. Is this what we can expect from the young Scotsman? A stereotypical Scot who drinks when the going gets tough?
"No! I rarely drink Scotch. I just got it in as I thought it was expected. My tipple of choice is Jagermeister. Something I picked up from my younger days." Indeed, his long term partner brings back caseloads. "She's East German so it's cheaper from the fatherland. It's brilliant stuff!" he laughs.
So how did he find himself managing a lower league Russian team?
"We-ll, I've always been interested in Russia and the old U.S.S.R. When I was wee, I always supported the Soviets in those really bad cold war movies!" Quite.
"But I realised Russian football was coming on strong, especially after CSKA's UEFA cup win. I don't see why Russian football can't go a step further." Do you think Khabarovsk can go that step further?
Somerville laughs. "Heh, we have a saying. Learn to walk before you run. With Khabarovsk, it's learn to crawl before you walk. First, we need to improve our infrastructure. Then we'll see where we can take the club."
Is there anyone in Russian football he's looking forward to meeting? "well, I love what Anatoly Byshovets has done. I'm from Edinburgh and used to follow Hearts. He had some good things to say when he worked for Vladimir Romanov. And he's got a brilliant striker in Gary O'Connor. I'm in awe of his finishing ability. I reckon Lokomotiv Moscow could definitely win the league."
So you like what Russia has brought to the UK? "Sort of. Abromivich and Romanov have brought some colour, but to be honest, I rarely follow UK football now. I stopped supporting Hearts and started following Babelsberg 03. But the Null Drei aren't even in the German regional leagues so Khabarovsk are the only team for me!"
Is there anyone in Russian football you're not looking forward to meeting? "Yes. Dick Advocaat. I found him arrogant at Rangers and haven't found him to be any different at Zenit. I just don't like the guy."
After an afternoon talking about football, it's time for the Evening Press to leave. But one moment gives away something about Somerville. After he finds out we need a taxi, he spends 45 minutes calling every cab company to get us home. It's this kind of never-say-die attitude that we think the Khabarovsk fans will love.
Nice start.. and you should be pretty safe on the player/tactics front - your biggest risk is reading somebody else's story and catching the names of their stars, and/or their description of their tactic.
A lot of us play by LLM rules or close to, but are telling the story here instead of there.
