Barrow’s 48th minute goal by Joe Fowler is enough to beat Southport and go second in Blue Square North. A fourth minute goal by Robert Dale gave Blyth a 1-0 win a Hucknell while Hinckley beat Telford by the same score thanks to a 64th minute Colin Marrison goal.
Elsewhere Worcester City record a 3-0 win at home to Hyde United and Stalybridge Celtic notch up a 3-0 win at Vauxhall Motors.

City stage second half comeback
A cagey start by both sides as hot favourites City probed the home side, Ephraim fired just over from 20 yards on 19 minutes and Donnelly’s sharp free kick six minutes later caused the keeper to make a fine save low down by the post. But it was Solihull that drew first blood, a high ball in to the box was flicked down by Anderson; Avinel blocked it and cleared the box but the ball fell to Leigh Downing whose low shot fizzed through the crowed area and evaded Fedzin’s outstretched fingers as it crept inside the post. City had the chance to hit back right away, Moloney sent Lallana away down the right and his cross was met by a powerful Baidoo header but it clipped the outside of the post and went out. Gleeson and Ephraim also spurned good chances before the break.
The second half was a different story, Leeds came out with fire in their belly and within a few minutes were level. Donnelly spread the ball out wide and Lallana swung the ball into the box, Ephraim controlled it and cracked it low into the net through two defenders and the keeper. On 51 minutes Leeds used the other flank, Donnelly found Gleeson and his leading pass allowed Baidoo to power past the last defender and fire home from 15 yards. Solihull rarely got out of their half for the rest of the game, City pressed on and but for some wayward finishing would have buried the home side. Piotr Bajdziak came on for his competitive debut on 67 minutes to replace the tiring Ephraim and he was involved in controversy with four minutes left. Rothery intercepted a clearance and knocked the ball over the defence, as Bajdziak ran clear Solihull defender Leigh Collins hacked him down. As the home players surrounded referee Craig Evans, he produced red as Collins had been the last man. With the final seconds of injury time running out Leeds confirmed the win as Lallana’s floated cross was met on the penalty spot by Baidoo and his header flew past the keeper’s despairing dive.
After the game Tak Pivo laughed off reported that the Leeds fans who made up a large proportion of the 1,424 crowd were unhappy about the lack of goals against a side that was 30/1 to win. “It isn’t always easy to win big when everyone expects you to. Our game plan worked well, we got the ball wide and they had no answer to our pace on the flanks. We’ve missed Zuchowski (sus) and Bjarnason (inj) but they’ll be back soon”.
Captain David Ogilby praised Pivo in the post match conference saying “He gave us a real good kick up the backside at halftime and he was right, there was too many players coasting, I think we responded to that well.”
In Mondays only BSN fixture a 58th minute goal by David Theobald gave Kettering a 1-0 win at home to Barrow. It was the pre-season favourites’ first win of 2007/08 lifting them up to 18th in the table.

City to Out gun Hyde ?
As City prepare to take on lowly Hyde United tomorrow at Elland Road manager Tak Pivo hinted at possible team changes. Hyde who opened with a 1-0 win over Burscough have lost their last two fixtures, 0-3 to Worcester and 0-4 to Tamworth and the bookies are making them 50/1 outsiders for the clash.
Pivo said “We had an interesting Reserves/fringe players v under 18’s midweek and several players impressed including Zuchowski and Bajdziak. Bjarnason played for the first time since his injury and Claran Lyng even got on the scoresheet. With no reserve fixtures at this level it’s hard to maintain the fitness levels of the squad players so I’ll be looking to hold regular friendlies for them.”
Club captain David Ogilby gained his first under 21 cap on Tuesday when he led out the Northern Ireland U21’s against Liechtenstein in a 2-2 draw.
