Good morning and welcome to Sky Sports News. We’ve got a lot of transfer news for you today with plenty of action in the tranfer market taking place on deadline day.
On of the biggest transfer stories has seen Madrid favorite Luis Figo return to the Bernabue from Inter Milan. The 34 year former Portuguese International signed for Real just before transfer deadline ended in a deal thought to be worth £500,000. The deal will see Figo at the Bernabue on a year long contract thought to be worth in the region of £38,000 a week. It came as a surprise to many of the Madrid fans who thought Figo would be the last person they would see playing for the club again.
In other news Madrid defender Alvaro Mejia has failed to agree terms with West Ham United and will return back to Spain.
| Ashley had decided to take a risk. With Reyes being injured and Francia not quite playing as well as he’d hoped a late call to Inter had seen him capture the signature of the former fan favorite. It had been a rushed deal to get the Portuguese star back at the Bernabue, with the transfer being confirmed right on the deadline.
Mejia had returned back to Spain failing to agree terms with West Ham. In some ways Ashley was pleased as cover at the back was pretty slim at the moment with Cannavaro and Helguera still injured.

With all the dealings going on and business being conducted Charlotte had decided to delay her arrival out to Spain, flying out a few days before Madrid’s home game against Betis.
She had met Ashley as his apartment after training and the two of them went for a late lunch. “So, how have things been out here then”
“Yea, not bad, we’re sitting at the top of the league, through to the next round of the Champions League. Only downside was going out in the Spanish Cup“.
“No Ash, that’s not what I mean, how are you finding things out here“.
“Ah, well, it’s better now, I’m adjusting to the lifestyle, the language lessons are going ok. Just a shame your not out here with me“.
“Would you really want me out here with you all the time then”
“Of course I would. It’s hard just speaking to you on the phone. But I know that you’ve got your business to run back in England so I know you can’t just uproot and leave”
"I know it’s hard sweetie, but who knows what will happen in the future"
The two of them discussed possibility's of her moving out to Spain. She had a lot to think about and as the both of them wanted the relationship to grow stronger a move out to join Ashley would have been the best option.

Once again Madrid had been made favorites for the match against 4th placed Betis but Ashley was under no illusions that his team were guaranteed a win.
New signing Figo wasn’t quite match fit so Ashley decided to start with him on the bench. With Cardenas serving his suspension Beckham was to continue on the right wing. The Englishman had been putting in some fine performances in training and in recent matches, almost as if he had a point to prove.
It was a frustrating evening for the home team. Continuously creating chances only for the final killer ball not being produced. At half time Ashley had told the players they had done well, and to keep up the performance and eventually the goal they deserved would arrive. Come the 90th minute and the goal hadn’t arrived. The referee blew his whistle and Madrid had to settle for a draw. Madrid 0

After Saturdays match half of the team left to join up with their respective National teams for the midweek friendly's. He hoped that all would return back fit as he really didn’t want anymore names added to the injury list.
It also meant he got to spend some time with Charlotte that week. More discussions were had over her moving out to Spain permanently, with Ashley stating there were plenty of Spanish players who could use her services as an agent and when she flew back to England on the Friday she had told him she would seriously think about it
All the players had returned back from international duties fit and ready for the upcoming match against Celta. The day before Valencia had hosted Barcelona in a match that saw 2nd take on 3rd. A win for either team would see them overtake Madrid on points as all three were leading the league with 48 points a piece.
It was Valencia who took the win and top spot, beating Barca 2-1 in an exciting, fast paced game. Valencia had maintained their 15 game unbeaten run and were certainly posing a threat to Madrids chances of capturing the league title.

Ashley again decided to keep Figo on the bench for the match, with Cassano occupying the left side of the midfield. He had proved that he could be quite effective from the wing. The partnership of Raul and Nistelrooy would hopefully see them put the chances away.
For the second match in a row Madrid failed to score. Ashley was frustrated. He had such an array of talent and it seemed that they couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. Again Madrid had created the chances. He had brought on Figo in the second half and he had shown the spark of magic that had seen him become one of the Worlds Best players, but even his performance in the second half couldn’t break down the Celta defence.
With their next match being away to Barcelona Ashley hoped the goal drought would finish and the players would find their scoring touch. Real Madrid 0
Celta 0
