26.8.06 Welling (2) Harrow Hill (1)
Welling victimised our young center defense as they scored two headers in the first half and then played plenty well enough to hand us a 2-1 defeat. We started the match fine and had a couple great opportunities, but it was clear that the pace advantage of Welling- especially their forwards- was going to cause us problems. The first goal came when Che Stadhart zipped past Isaiah Smith and crossed to Akwasi Fobi-Edusi, who deflected it inside the post past Craig Farr. They added a second goal midway through the first half when Mark Goodfellow headed in a cross from MOM Matt Bodkin. We stayed close after that and looked to have gotten ourselves back in the match when Jonathan Mooney flicked a shot past Gary Lester on a cross from Stephen Reid. That was our only offensive highlight and they came much closer to adding to their margin than we did to equalizing.

After losing to the first place side in ECS, we had to come back two days later and host the 2nd place side. Overall, I thought our effort was excellent. We had better quality chances than they did, but just weren't able to finish off well enough to score on keeper Richard Martin. Their defender- Scott Morgan- was deservedly the MOM- as he made several excellent, timely tackles and dominated our players in the air. James Evans played well enough to earn the clean sheet in his debut.

It would be easy to call this another boring draw, but I would consider it survival- as MOM Craig Farr was the one who earned us a point with his fine play in goal. Farr was ably supported by our stalwart backline as the home side out shot us 15-5 in the match. Lee Hook played well in their goal to help keep us off the scoreboard as we showed improved life and execution in the second half.
9.9.06 Harrow Hill (2) Bedford (1)
It wasn't easy, but we managed to score a 2-1 win over Bedford at Larksfield Road. Following a scoreless first half that saw us with plenty of possession, but few good scoring chances, we came out strong to open the second half. Michael Yates proved that effort wins matches as he ran down a loose ball on the right sideline- when it looked to be going out- and crossed in to Stephen Reid. Reid fired a well placed shot past Tommy Crowther to give us the lead. We handed the lead back when Karl Johnson was whistled for holding Jason Dormer just inside the edge of the area. Lee Howarth, the Bedford skipper, converted the penalty kick past Craig Farr to even things at 1-1. We struck for the match winner when Cathal Feeney sent a through ball up the middle of the pitch. Reid ran on to the ball and smoothly sent a shot past Crowther from just inside the edge of the area to ensure his selection as MOM.
13.9.06 Harrow Hill (0) Basingstoke (1)
Visiting Basingstoke got off on a flyer and made that goal stand up as the only one in the match as they defeated Harrow Hill 1-0 at Larksfield Road. Mark Peters scored the only goal of the match in the 4th minute after receiving a good pass from loanee James Coutts. Hill tried to rally and blistered several shots at Mark Cobey, but most of the shots were off target. Cobey did make a superb second half save on a free kick from Stephen Reid. Defender Joe Dolan earned MOM honours as he helped keep us at bay.
16.9.06 Bognor Regis (0) Harrow Hill (0)
A draw only because we failed miserably in our shooting. We dominated this match at Nyewood Lane, but we missed three open goals during the match. All of the open goal shots were at range, but in each the goal was completely open and they all lofted their shots over the bar. The home side only managed three shots as Craig Farr earned the clean sheet, while we had 9 on Alan Fitzpatrick. Cathal Feeney earned MOM honours for his dynamic backrow play for us.
23.9.06 Sutton United (1) Harrow Hill (0)
A disputed penalty call cost us dearly as we played 1st place Sutton United even- except for the early penalty kick that would be the only goal in the match. MOM Matt Gray converted the penalty kick after Stephen Place was ruled to have pushed Carl Gibbs in the area. Other than that goal, we gave Sutton all they could handle at Gander Green Lane. We can't buy a break lately as we sent Stephen Reid in free late in the second half. Glenn Morris could only get a hand on the ball and it trickled past him, but was cleared away Sam Oji just before Reid could get there to push the ball in to the goal. If we could only manage a bit of offense- we could be doing very well, as our defense remains solid.
30.9.06 Harrow Hill (1) Tiverton (1) FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
After handing them a goal in the opening minutes of play, we fought back to a 1-1 draw in a match that we should have won. Michael Fuller played horrid in his debut at rightback and passed directly to Anthony Mason in front of our goal, which allowed Mason an easy time firing past James Evans. We equalized midway through the first half when Jason Smith drilled a shot past Eamonn Byrne from a sharp angle. We came close to winning the match several times in the second half, but our shooting remains poor and we will now be forced into a replay.
4.10.06 Tiverton (2) Harrow Hill (0) FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round Replay
We fell to Tiverton at Ladysmead as they defeated us 2-0 on a pair of first half goals. Isaiah Smith made a push in the area that might have been a questionable call, but still resulted in Barry McConnell driving the penalty kick past James Evans. McConnell made that a brace less than five minutes later when he deflected a cross from Steve Flack past Evans to help him earn MOM honours. We never showed much offense today and overall I considered our effort to be disappointing in the loss.
7.10.06 Harrow Hill (1) Hayes (0)
The match was closer than it should have been thanks to our inaccurate shooting and the fine efforts of Hayes keeper Kevin Davies, but we turned the lone goal of the match into the match winning goal in edging them 1-0 at Larksfield Road. Stephen Reid earned MOM honours when he boomed home a 25 yard free kick for his 5th goal of the season in the opening moments of the second half. We made that goal work to gain a win as we put the defensive clamps on Hayes in the late stages of the second half. Craig Farr earned the clean sheet in the match.
