Default The Old Lady Strikes Back

After being demoted to Serie B due to the match fixing scandal Juventus chairman had to reduce cost and the first thing he did was sack Didier Deschamps who refused a wage drop, but with no manager wanting the post, especially with 17 points to gain back before they can really compete, he turned to an unknown English manager called Mark Wilson.

14th July: I knew the job was going to a difficult especially with the board wanting an immediate return to Serie A. Deep down I knew the only possibility of this was via the Play Offs. A start of minus 17 points was going to be very difficult to deal with, especially with how demotivated the players were.

My first team squad is as follows:

GK - Emanuele Belardi 28 on loan
GK - Gianluigi Buffon 28

DRC - Felice Piccolo 22
DRC/WBR - Jonathan Zebina 27
DC - Jean-Alain Boumsong 26
DC - Robert Kovac 32
DC/DM - Igor Tudor 28
D/WBRL - Federico Balzaretti 24
D/WBL - Giorgio Chellini 21

DM - Giuliano Giannichedda 31
DM - Matteo Paro 23
DM - Cristiano Zanetti 29
AMR - Mauro Camoranesi 29
AMR - Marco Marchionni 25
AMRLC - Pavel Nedved 33
AMLC/FC - Alessandro Del Piero 31
AML/ST - Raffaele Palladino 22

ST - Valeri Bojinov 20 on loan
ST - David Trezeguet 28

The reserve squad and Under 20's squad were looking very good (too many players to let you know who they all are)

My first job was to watch over the friendly arranged that night, we won comfortbaly 5-0 over Sochaux with golas from Bojinov, Trezeguet, Camonesi and a double strike from Nedved.

The next friendly was against Bronshoj and we won 1-0 with reserve team player Legrottaglie scoring but it was an unconvincing win, as was the 2-0 win against Randers Fc, they scored an own goal which was quickly followed by a goal by Del Piero. Our final friendly was against Esbjerg Fb and we won 2-1 with Trezeguet getting both goals, but a silly defensive mistake cost us the clean sheet

Friendly Round Up
14/7: Sochaux - A - 5-0 (Bosinjov, Trezeguet, Nedved 2, Camoranesi)
20/7: Bronshoj - 1-0 (Legrottaglie)
22/7: Randers Fc - 2-0 (OG, Deli Piero)
24/7: Esbjerg Fb - 2-1 (Trezeguet 2)

1st August: The draw for the 1st qualifying round of the Italian cup saw us away to Martina, a game we should easily win

19th August: Martina v Juventus; Italian Cup 1st Qualifying Round

We were odds on favourites to win the game and the bookies were proved right as we completely dominted Martina apart from the first minute when they took a surprise lead. There lead didn't last long though as Trezeguet equalised on the 5th minute. Martina were being overawed and Trezeguet put us into the lead on the 26th minute with a crafty little chip over the keeper. Somehow Martina managed to get to the break without conceding again. One minute into the second ahlf we went further in front as Paro headed home from a brilliant free kick. Martina had no reply and on the 63rd minute Trezeguet was fouled in the area to earn us a penalty which Del Piero stepped up and scored. We completed the rout with Trezeguet earning his Hattrick on the 74th minute, A brilliant start for me

Martina 1 - 5 Juventus (Trezeguet 5, 26, 75, Paro 46, Del Piero pen 63)

The draw for the 2nd Qualifying Round saw us pitted away against Matova

20th August: The bookies have made us 50-1 to win Serie B with Lecce 6-4 Favourites

23rd August: Matova v Juventus; Italian Cup 2nd Qualifying Round

We began well and kept Matova on the back foot. It did however take us till the 27th minute to gain the lead as Bojinov popped in a good header. Three minutes later Trezeguet made he it 2-0 and three minute afters that Bojinov thought he'd made it 3-0 but his goal was ruled offside. The second half was much of the same as we kept the pressure on Matova. It took us till the 70th minute to make it 3-0 as Camoranesi fired home from the edge of the area. Matova's slim hopes died when they were reduced to ten men after Del Piero was hauled down

Matova 0 - 3 Juventus (Bojinov 27, Trezeguet 30, Camoranesi 70)

The draw for the Italian Cup 3rd Qualifying Round had us yet again away to Venezia

27th August: Venezia v Juventus; Italian Cup 3rd Qualifying Round

We started quite slowly as Venezia managed to stifle our passing game. It took till the 25th minute for us to get our first shot off, unfortunetly Del Piero didn't connect with the ball right and it flew over the crossbar. We did however mange to score on the 41st minute as Trezeguet showed Del Piero how to do it. We kept going forward in search of the killer second goal but we couldn't finish and wasted several good moves. Venezia punished us for our wasteful efforts in front of goal by scoring in the 87th minute to take the game into extra time.
Extra time produced no golas so it was too the dreaded penatly shoot-out... Del Piero scored our first, as did Venezia, Nedved managed to put his into the arms of the keeper, Venezia made no mistake neither did Bojinov, Venezia converted theres with no trouble. Paro stepped up and fired his high into the net, Venezia managed somehow to fire theres over the net, Kovac didn't make that mistake and scored. Venezia's final spot kick went straight into the arms of Buffon and we were into the 1st Round draw

Venezia 1 - 1 Juventus (aet) (Pen 4-3) (Trezeguet 41)

The draw was made for the Italian Cup 1st Round and we faced Serie A team Chievo

30th August: I made first signing, it was Lincoln a 27 year old Brazilian from FC Schalke, he plays as an Attacking Midfielder and cost me a good £6,750,000

Results:
19/8: Italian Cup 1st Qualifying Round - A - Martina 5-1 (Trezeguet 3, Paro, Del Piero)
23/8; Italian Cup 2nd Qualifying Round - A - Matova 3-0 (Bojinov, Trezeguet, Camoranesi)
27/8: Italian Cup 3rd Qualifying Round - A - Venezia 1-1 (aet)(pen 4-3) (Trezeguet0

Italian Cup: 1st Round v Chievo
Serie B: 22nd (-17 points)

Top Scorers:
Trezeguet 5
Paro, Del Piero, Bojinov, Camoranesi 1

13th September: Rimini v Juventus

Our first league game and we came right at Rimini and should of scored in the 18th minute as Trezeguet stretched but missed the ball. However as he stretched he pulled his hamstring and couldn't carry on in the game. We carried on without him and on the 28th minute Bojinov fired us into the lead. It didn't take us to long to make it 2-0 as on the 42nd minute Camoranesi headed in from Nedved's rasping free-kick. The second half was alittle bit of a struggle as Rimini put most of there men behind the ball and relied on the odd counter attack to try and score.

Rimini 0 - 2 Juventus (Bojinov 28, Camoranesi 42)

15th September: David Trezeguet will be out for up to a month with his pulled hamstring, not what I wanted this ealry in the season.

16th September: Juventus v Albinoleffe

We seemed to struglle against Albinoleffe as they put ten men behind the ball, Bojinov nearly broke free of the defence put was pulled back, the referee only gave a yellow card to the defender even though it was a clear red card offence. The second half was much the same with Albinoleffe providing us with a difficult defence to break down, luckily we had Del Piero who managed to score via a brilliant free-kick on the 86th minute.

Juventus 1 - 0 Albinoleffe (Del Piero 86)

18th September: Igor Tudor will be out for up to 2 monthes after damaging his Knee Ligaments in training

20th September: Juventus v Genoa

This was billed as our first real test of the season but we made it look easy as we destroyed Genoa, It only took us three minutes to open the scoring aas Bojinov slotted home a brilliant through ball by Camoranesi, we piled forward after the goal and in the 21st minute Bojinov doubled ours and his goal tally for the game, Bojinovs day got even better as on the 26th minute he completed his hat trick. The second half didn't start brilliantly for Genoa as after only four minutes they were reduced to ten men after a vicous two footed lunge on Del Piero. This however didn't stop them scoring a minute after the sending off to reduce the arrears to 3-1. Luckily on the 64th minute Palladino made it 4-1 as he headed home a corner. Finally Boumsong killed the game off with our fifth on the 68th minute

Juventus 5 - 1 Genoa (Bojinov 3, 21, 26, Palladino 64, Boumsong 68)

23rd September: Vicenza v Juventus

A brilliant start saw us go 1-0 up after only seven minutes as Nedved fired in a corker of a free-kick from 20 yards, it got even better as we dispossessed Vicenza from the restart and Bojinov finished off the well crafted team move. Vicenza looked shell shocked. We kept pressurising Vicenza but unfortunately we couldn't break through for the rest of the half. The second half started much as the first did as we fired in a goal in quick time as Bojinov continued his rich vein of form and scored within two minutes. After the goal Vicenza seemed to accpet the loss and piled all there men bakc to avoid a whooping and it worked as my men struggled to penetrate the ten man defence

Vicenza 0 - 3 Juventus (Nedved 7, Bojinov 8, 47)
