No, it will not. But Walloons and Flemish people have some different mind sets.

Well, I discovered something typical for Belgium….

As you probably know, in Belgium there are three language regions:

The biggest part (almost 60%) is located in Flanders and the people talk Dutch in this region.
About 40% is located in French spoken Wallonia and a very small region is talking German.

That’s the reality, but not in FM.

When you are at a Flemish team and you invite foreign players they’ll start speaking the native language. In real life it would be Dutch, in FM it’s French !!!

Why?

Well, the researchers for Belgium are:

•Fabrice Leclercq
•Fabian Vangeel
•Johnny Volt

With some research I discovered that:

Fabrice who’s the head researcher for Belgium is Walloon and thus his mother tongue is French.

And that’s why in FM, all foreigners of all Belgian teams start to speak French after a while.

As a nice extra I discovered that he’s a fan for Charleroi. Now we start to understand why Charleroi and its players are overrated in the game.

I also found it strange that the internet doesn’t know any Johnny Volt correlated with Football Manager…

I also noticed this in previous versions that they learn French instead of Dutch in Flemish teams, and i also found it annoying cause here in Belgium it's a sensitive subject.
Certainly where i live!
I'm from Tienen, Flemish but near the language border.

I 2nd your opinion that Charleroi was in every version overrated, i really suspected something in the line of what you say.
I also noticed so many times that the National team consisted more Walloon players then irl after a few months.

I checked it and you are right. Players at Flemish teams are learning French in all versions. It’s already going at least since version CM 97/98 (and maybe earlier).

I checked by using the Data Editor the worth of Charleroi and yes since CM 97/98 (and again, maybe earlier as well) it’s a top four team.

In Belgium you have Anderlecht, Club Brugge, RC Genk and Standard Liege which are the real top-4 teams.

Then you have a small sub-top range, containing: AA Gent, GBA and Westerlo.

Charleroi is even not sub-top but a mid table team.

The last time it played the UEFA cup is in the season 1994/1995 and it never won the Belgian title or the cup.

Now, let’s have a look at the real life league tables of the last 10 year.

Season Position

2006/2007 5th
2005/2006 11th
2004/2005 5th
2003/2004 15th
2002/2003 16th
2001/2002 12th
2000/2001 9th
1999/2000 16th
1998/1999 14th
1997/1996 13th

On average Charleroi reached the 12th place the last 10 years. This is proving it’s not a top-4 team, not even sub-top.

However, in FM, Charleroi is a top team. And the head researcher for Belgium is a guy who is a Charleroi fan. Coincidence? I don’t think so

The "Charleroi overrated" issue is something that should be brought up in that thread if you feel something is wrong. In fact, looks like it already came up a while ago.

The Dutch/French issue is a separate matter. I don't know if this is a data-issue or a bug, but perhaps it doesn't hurt to ask in this same thread as well. Best chance of getting a clear answer and eventual fix, I think.
