Default How do I force a feeder club to play a friendly?

As part of the feeder club arrangement, my club is entitled to host a friendly between our two clubs and keep the gate receipts (which is of great importance to my clubs finances). But they keep rejecting the invitation. So how do I force them to accept one? Is there a way to force them? They shouldn't be able to reject it, otherwise what it the point of having the clause in the game?

You should check that they do not already have a friendly arranged within a day or two of the date you suggest and adjust accordingly. Also, you should be aware of qualification games that they may have to play in (e.g. for the champs league).

Does your parent club have playing commitments in July/August? For example, some clubs play european qualification games and may not want to schedule too many friendlies. In Germany they have a pre-season league cup for the top few teams, so they have additional commitments.

Got Villa as parent club, they reject all friendly proposals, They don't have any other commitments at the times I ask and in the season I requested a friendly, weren't in Europe.

Season two they were in Europe (Finished 5th) but still didn't accept a friendly, obviously they had no Euro qualifications.

Season three, same as above.

This feature doesn't work for me.

Maybe a question for SI.

It seems to work if you're the parent club, but not the feeder club. There's a FM08 bugs forum, where you might be able to post this issue.

Before I sent them any invitation I was very careful to check everything they were involved in and schelduled it when there was no conflicts and even when I'd thought would be helpful for them. But no, it was rejected. Then I just tried every date possible, still no luck. There oughta be some way to either negoitate with them or just plain force them otherwise what is the point?

In FM2007 I had the same problem.

I usually manage Antwerp and my parent club is Manchester United.

And you can bet it was of big importance to play a game with M.U.

But they always refused, unless I paid. I was moaning that we had an agreement for one free game in my stadium, but that didn’t help.

One day I discovered why they refused all the time.

The F$**ù^#è§! Assistant-Manager, who had the privilege to arrange the friendly games for the B-team, was always faster than me in arranging those games.

And the F$**ù^#è§! Assistant-Manager always selected Manchester United, but he didn't talk about it. And to be honest, I do not care about my B-team as well.

MU didn’t say, “Sorry, we already played our game at your house” but just refused another invitation.

So when I deleted the proposal of my Ass Man, I was able to play vs. Manchester United for free.

Hopes, this one could help?

You might get a better response if you ask for a friendly with the parent clubs reserve team.

It will say on the feeder page that the parent are under no obligation to play a full strength side.
