A player that is close to retirement can have this clause in his contract. If a team want him as a manager or a coach they can approach to sign him as that without having to buy him. It is pretty much a free release clause if he gets offered a coaching/manager position.

if a player gets a job offer to be a manager or coach u have to let him go but if that happens it happens when he's to old to be playing anyway

I have found it usefull for getting rid of old donkeys as quite often lower league teams come and take them off your books for free.
