First off let me say that I love the new confidence section in the game and I like the way there is a lot more information available to you in this area, from fan feedback to board feedback.
It's nice to be able to set a target for the season and get a budget based upon that. You can keep your target relatively achievable and build up your team more slowly or you can reach for the top and gamble with the extra funds.
My problem is with Cups, the board set their expectation for all Cups by themselves and it doesn't always add up in my opinion.
I find the more sucessful I am in the league (regardless of my aims), the more demanding the board are with regard to Cups the following season, to the point where things get unrealistically difficult and results in them being disapointed regularly.
I agree big teams need to achieve results in all competitions, but to have a board asking you to reach the Semi Finals in the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Champions League, as well as going strong in the Premier League, it's a bit inconvenient.
If we can choose our aims for the League, can we not also choose our aims for the Cups too? Surely if we tell the board we are going to win the League, then they should allow for a lower performance in the Cups. There are many examples of teams in real life prioritising one competition at the expense of another, why not allow us to do it in the game? It shouldn't be difficult and would make things more complete.
I would like to be able to promise the world to the board in the League, but tell them I would rather take the reserves out in the League Cup to preserve my team and give them experience. This kind of thing shouldn't be upsetting most boardrooms of clubs around the country, even sucessful ones.
Right now the more you win, the higher the demands are for the Cups, you only have so many players you can have and keep happy, they can only do so well in so many competitions. I'm not saying Quadruples can't be done, of course they can, but if you win the league for a couple of seasons, pretty soon the board want you to reach the Final of each Cup competition you are in, as a minimum.
I favour allowing us to set our aims for each competition seperately, and to have a chance to offset the promise of a League title with the chance to lower expectations in other areas, to allow the blooding of youngsters or resting of first team players if necessary.
Hopefully most of you that read this will agree, as well as improving on my suggestions so that this becomes something SI can't avoid putting in the next game
