We all know that due to licensing FM only some nations/leagues/clubs can have the kits/photos/logos etc.

For example in the English leagues only the Premiership doesn't contain kits/photo/logos as rights are held with EA. At present if you want them you have to go to a third party.

However what would stop SI from selling the boxed game as normal and then creating its own superpack with these missing bits and make it available for download on the day of the games release?

1) Surely it can't be the extra work involved because im sure that if SI could get all the licensing rights then they would spend the time to create all the extra graphics. Customers would then have a "uniform graphics package" on the day the game is released and wouldn't have to wait until they are created by third parties and hunt around for them.

2) If there is legal problems with SI trying to escape the licensing rules by using my idea then they could create the graphics in house and then send them to a third party such as sortitoutsi or thedugout to distribute on the day of release.

SI already encourage through the Graphics forum for users to create their own graphics to fill in the gaps the lack of licenses make so why not do it in house?

Yes, it would require alot more effort to get all the extra graphics. But would allow for every player to have a standardised, easy to find and download graphics package for every player and club.

Im sure there must be a reason why this can't be done either because of money or legal problems but it is just an idea I had If it is used I'd like the file that you download on the day the game is released to be named after me the MLG file

Obviously there is no time to do this if it were legally and economically viable for the release day of FM08. But is it something people would welcome and SI should consider in the future?

I just think the Premier league should stop being such damned fools and release two licenses. Football Manager is no less reputable than the Fifa series - why should EA and Fifa get the only license every year? It sucks.

Methinks they can obtain more money by selling the license to EA on an exclusive basis..

why is it not possible for SI to create a superpack for legal reasons but ok for SI to encourage individuals and affiliate websites to make and distribute them?

Even if it's free, distibuting content they don't have licsences for would be illegal.

SI have never encouraged anyone to make graphics for teams they don't have licsenses for either. They simply make the game modifiable so users can add what they like, be that fantasy/local pub teams graphics and player pics - or anything else a user might want to do.

Slyly creating one and giving it to fansites isn't going to happen either for very obvious reasons.

When the game comes out I guarentee you that the major leagues without graphics and faces will be availible 3rd party for download anyway.

Where do we get these Premiership headshot pics from then?? It's hard enough getting all the FL clubs to send them in (and some are not owned by the clubs in the first place).
