hi guys. was just wondering, when you get your new batch of youth players at the start of every season, can the nationality of the youth coaches determine the nationality of the players. i mean if your have spanish youth coaches for newcastle for example, can some of your youth players be spanish nationality??

I thinks so. This was definitely the case in FM07 so I don't believe it has changed in this year's installment.

No, I think it depends on your scouting knowledge.

So if you have a lot of knowledge the nationalities of your youth players will be more diverse.

Are you sure it is scouting knowledge. Because foreign coaches add to that knowledge as well...

what about at Athletic Blbao though? because ive had italian, turkish and greek coaches, scouts, youth coaches and all of the youth players were all spanish. (come to think of it, i dont think its possible to have a turkish/basque nationality)

Bilbao can only have Basque (a Spanish region) players, so itd be pointless having foreign players if you arent allowed to play them

foreign coaches have knowledge of their respective countries (and sometimes those surrounding) which adds to your overall scouting knowledge and thus affects the nationalitites of your youth team regens

In my latest batch of regens at Man Utd I got 20 English players, 1 Italian player (I think this is because I have Desailly as a coach and he has full knowledge of Italy), 2 Northern Irish players (I think this is because I have Tony Whelan as Youth Coach who is Northern Irish), 1 Portugese player (I think this is because of Queiroz) and 1 Scotish player (I think this is because I have Brian McClair as a coach).

So looking at that I think its based on:

a) the country your team is in - this is the majority of the players
b) the nationality of you and your coach staff
c) your knowledge of a country
