The techie guys at Mesh are baffled as to why some game disks are not recognised by my DVD rom drive. Everything worked perfectly well untill I uninstalled FM08 (buggy version) to make way for the new patch.

I have subsequently formatted my pc and reinstalled all drivers and yet the game disks are still not recognised - it just says please insert disk.

After attempting a variety of usless procedures suggested by the fools at mesh, I am still having trouble.

Purchasing FM08 has not just cost me £28, but looks likely to cost me the price of someone servicing my PC.

The SI customer service dept is non existant - what can I do?

A couple of other people in the bugs forum have experienced the same issues but don't appear to have a solution. What the hell kind of bugs are on the FM08 disk?

Unfortunately, even if the FM08 disk or software is to blame, the terms of conditions of you installing the software clears SI of any liability if problems were to arise from the installation. sad but true.

I mean if you were able to prove it was SI software, they might be nice enough to help you out lol but as I said the software manufacturers aren't liable for any damage done to your hardware through the installation. sorry.

just as a side thought - physically disconnecting it, then reconnecting it might make a difference or re downloading the drivers for your specific make and model - but id imagine you've probably done all this anyhoo.

Clearly this has nothing to do with Si at all.

Even if by the remote possibility that a disc has somehow managed to break your dvd drive it is a fault of the drive. Any disc would have caused it.

Perhaps the laser needs cleaning? Could be a build up of dirt/dust and it's just not reading anything?
