Some disc drives just don't get along with some forms of copy protection. Not fun when you're on the receiving end.

Usually it means your "read" function of your drive is not working anymore. Happens usually when a CD or DVD drive overheats. The drive does appear to operate normally, and there is no indication by the operating system or diagnostic programs that it is broken. Just put a new drive in and you will be OK.

something i find strange is every time i start up fm08 a windows pop up comes up saying theres no disk in drive A. despite the fact i dont have a drive a.
it pops up twice after i cancel the first time and then the game runs properly.
dont' know if it's related?
well i say i don't have a drive A.
windows exploer says A is the 3 1/2 inch floppy. i don't have one of those but i do have a host of memory card slots in the 3 1/2 inch dirve area.

What is the model of your DVD-ROM? It doesn't recognize every CDs? what about DVDs?
