Have you patched up btw? My board you could re-apply and see what happnes. Failing that adding a new manager seems your only way.

Ive made 2 saves, one before i got the sack so i can create a new manager and apply.
The other one im in the hat for the vacant barca job.
Kind of ruined the glory tho.

I had a very similar situation with FM08 out of the box ie no patch. I was managing Modena in the Italian leagues, got promoted to Serie A, board wanted me to try and avoid relegation. I somehow managed to finish in UEFA cup place and was delighted at the thought of European football with my team id worked hard with. Then i saw the news "Steve Summers unlikely to have contract renewed"
i was like WTF, needless to say i didnt have contract renewed. A very annoying feeling, nearly as annoying as those chairmen that accept transfer offers on your behalf!
Not seen this "contract renewel" issue in latest patch though.

Are you patched up with the latest one then Matt?
Anyway, I feel your pain. This is a HUGE bug. But one that I was hoping the latest patch has fixed.
