2007 was amazing with the 7.0.2 patch so i assume (cant remember) that SI brought out 2 patches last time.

Im having problems with shots/goals ratio, so much so have been considering going back to 07. If this is cleared up i'll be more willing to try 08.

Have defo learnt my lesson though, dont buy FM straight away! when release date says October tha means it will be playable in January...hopefully

If there's to be another patch it will probably be released after the January so they can put all the latest transfers in the game.

If that's true then I'm giving up.

I started a new 8.0.1 patched game yesterday and I'm not the only one to report the defenders not closing down. There might as well not be a defensive line there.

Been a loyal SI customer for 7 years, I've paid £25 and got nothing for it. It's not acceptable to buy something and have to wait 1 month to be able to play it, let alone 5.

This is so depressing.

Every version has been playable, you just need to work out the right tactics depending on which version, personally i've had success with pre patch, beta patch and now full patch versions.

Just takes a lot of work with tactics and watching matches to see where things are going wrong.

I've not even done it with a big club, my teams still semi pro lol

Just persevere with tactics, don't give up because it's too hard, managers need to have that determined winning mentality after all.

I agree what has the new patch done or any of them. I don't care about all the players in the wrong clubs or the rest of the bugs! All I want is for my defenders to mark, close down not stand there while the other team dribble round them. Plus all you need to do to score is play counter attacking football while is boring. Poor version new patch or can I suggest starting again using CM03/04 as the template?

There is usually a second patch released after the January transfer window, so some time in February will be the likely time.

This isn't tactics. The defenders do not close down when a through ball is made. It doesn't matter what notch to you put closing down, mentality or anything else on. I've tried all night - they just bloody stand there doing nothing.

I'm not the only one to report this, and the most infuriating thing is when people tell us "it's your tactics". It's the same symptoms of the closing down bug but with the defensive line only, particularly the cenral defenders.

Well that doesn't happen to me or anyone who has tried it, i totally disagree that it's a bug, if so it would happen to everyone as the match engine is the same for everyone.

Even if it was you would just need to adjust the tactic to counter it.

You're not reading what I've said - it's something that can't seem to be countered. You're lucky that you haven't been experiencing this, but there's around 6 of us in the bugs forum who have and can't counter it.

I've played CM/FM for 7 years and I know how to make my defenders close down, and yet they're not doing it. They did it perfectly well with the same tactic in the Beta patch.
