We weren't talking about that. I couldn't care less about shot to goal ratio because I know how matches can play out. What we're talking about is the appearance of what seems to be a new closing down bug, with our defenders not defending, just standing there and letting the opposition run past. Every single match, in my case.
nope, you set them run.....my defenders are rock solid and whenever the opponent get the ball they gets in hard and clears it. Dont say "its a bug" when its your fault. Its just an easy excuse.

I agree - closing down is vastly improved in my opinion. My Man Utd team conceded just 15 goals in winning the Premier League in my first season. In the second season, have conceded just 4 in 12.
Tactically I just have defenders closing down in their own area, tackling hard with defensive mentality and low creative freedom - works a treat.

i've seen ai-controlled teams demonstrate some very bizarre behaviour regarding closing down. how do you plan on explaining that one away?
it's a bug, deal with it and stop defending flawed aspects of the game by insulting people's intelligence and claiming they're bad at the game.

Don't know mate. I think si tried to change too much. They changed things that didn't need changing in my opinion. As the old saying goes "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
What I'm seeing is an area from the edge of the box to the centre circle where too often defenders/midfielders should be putting in a tackle but don't.
It's hard to pinpoint the cause because it doesn't happen every single time and does seem dependant on some match conditions.
It certainly happens far too often.
Just as the failure to convert one on ones happens far too often.
Just as near post headers are completely broken.
There are still problems, I do know it's all being looked at but as you can see from just this thread, it's very hard to isolate specific causes.
hat I can tell the closing down and tackling is fine now...My players lunge in to try and get the ball when they can. It's odd that others aren't having the same results. But by the looks of it, there is still a problem. So I'm not going to start denying it exists just because I'm not experiencing it.
My only gripe with the match engine right now is that there are far too many good chances created, which seem to get missed to keep the scores from getting ridiculously high. It's not the right way to go about things to be honest. I'd rather have less highlights to watch, and more seemingly easy chances converted in to goals.
Seeing Trezeguet missing 1vs1 chances makes me think I'm playing Unreal Tournament....not FM

Jesus, mate, you know, you are not the only one to play the game here. These people have the RIGHT to express their opinions/experiences/whatever without being constantly stalked, bullied and laughed out of the forum.
NO, it's not my defenders. NO, it's not my tactic. NO, i'm not lousy at the game, I'm playing it since CM Italia. And YES, I think it's a bug. Now, can you please ALLOW me to post this without jumping around and screaming "No!!! It's not the game!!!! It's you and your tactics!!!! I dont have this problem!!!! It's you!!!!"
It certainlt seems to be unbalanced between AI and human players. Both myself and a friend played the A-League as Adelaide and Melbourne respectively. I was sacked at the end of a season in which I won 3 of 34 games scoring only 16 goals. Regularly I had much more shots and possessions. My players simply couldn't score (one run was 7 games without a goal). Players with similar stats on AI teams were hitting goals from outside the box where mine missed open goals. My friend was also sacked, struggling to get his players to close down opposition players. These problems are so frustrating due to the feeling of helplessness tactically as to what can be done to solve them. It's not fun going into a game expecting to lose because you can't get goals despite a plethora of chances.
