Maybe in terms of the match engine but as for the rest of the game: No way! FM08 promises more than it can deliver. Fact. For instance, the player registration bug is severe. It would be a travesty if SI were to wait until February to rectify this blatantly obvious error.

You're not reading what I've said - it's something that can't seem to be countered. You're lucky that you haven't been experiencing this, but there's around 6 of us in the bugs forum who have and can't counter it.

I've played CM/FM for 7 years and I know how to make my defenders close down, and yet they're not doing it. They did it perfectly well with the same tactic in the Beta patch. </BLOCKQUOTE>Have to agree, that while the patch has sorted out some of the problems,the most annoying ones remain to some degree. Hope we don't have to wait another two or three months to sort this disappointment out.

From what I can tell the closing down and tackling is fine now...My players lunge in to try and get the ball when they can. It's odd that others aren't having the same results. But by the looks of it, there is still a problem. So I'm not going to start denying it exists just because I'm not experiencing it.

My only gripe with the match engine right now is that there are far too many good chances created, which seem to get missed to keep the scores from getting ridiculously high. It's not the right way to go about things to be honest. I'd rather have less highlights to watch, and more seemingly easy chances converted in to goals.

An by easy chances I mean Tevez, Ronaldo or Rooney having all the time in the world, acres of space, being one on one with the keeper, and yet they decide to blast the ball from the edge of the box straight at him. There's no two ways about it, this has to be sorted eventually, because after a whole season of putting up with watching this kind of thing, it does get very irritating.

It's annoying, the match engine is so close to being great, but not quite there yet. I think that's what is bugging most of it. We can see it's potential, but it needs more work to get there.

no patch will fix the so-called "shot/goal ratio", face it. Remember Tevez and Torres yesterday missing open goals? dont see a guy called "Carlos Tevez" here on this forum ranting.

All im gonna say is that im not gonna waste my time with this game anymore! im chelsea half way through the season scored 13 goals in 10th! despite dominating nearly every game shots jst go straight to the keeper everytime last game had 26 shots 12 on target and it was 0-0 says it all NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP!!!!!

We weren't talking about that. I couldn't care less about shot to goal ratio because I know how matches can play out. What we're talking about is the appearance of what seems to be a new closing down bug, with our defenders not defending, just standing there and letting the opposition run past. Every single match, in my case.

And I saw in another thread where someone was describing a problem, and he got shouted down because "it's obvious it's because you're not winning, you're sulking". I'd just like to say right here, I haven't yet lost a game in my current save BUT this new behaviour in the match engine is worrying.

What makes the game not worth while atm for me is the fact that i usually start off my games in sweden (i'm swedish). With this latest patch they have the wrong teams in the wrong divisions, and this is hardcoded into the game which makes it so that i don't feel like playing. If you add really out-of-date teams it just sucks all the fun out of the game for me.

The transfers i could fix myself but they've managed to make it so that i cant move the teams into the correct divisions.

Does anyone know why this version (08) has changed so much from 07? )07 was a good game, except the whole GK MOM and 1 shot one goal you loose thing. Does this mean we have to wait until 09 for a good version of FM or longer?

My defenders now run amok when i give them orders to man mark/close down. Almost no yellow/reds before patch.
Now Gallas/Toure and Glichy already have reached yellow card limit after 18 matches into new game with latest patch

---and as we speak,Van Persie doing a two footed tackle on Owen..red card...oh well still only 4 minutes left and 3-1 up

3-1 Victory!! hehe
