I assume that we wont see the cut-outs when FM09 comes around. The choice to 'evolve' the graphics has clearly gone too fast. Never mind that this really burdens the community since it's a pain in the ass to find resources that are in a decent resolution. SI has somewhat proven that they cannot cope with the work that cut-outs mean without making mistakes.

And yes, as a paying customer I feel that it's my complete right to point out what I percieve as mistakes in a product I pay for. In this case my experience of said product gets lessened because of the graphics. I really like the game otherwise, but I do indeed enjoy accurate and proper graphics which unfortunatly wont be availiable to me this year because of some choices made by SI.

So, properly executed the effect looks awesome. But it is not properly executed and therefore detracts from the whole of the experience.

I don't agree that the graphical changes have evolved too fast. You are correct though that the quality control could have been a bit better and that is something that we'll look to correct in the future. Where possible, the pictures mentioned in this topic have been redone and we're trying to source some better quality images for some.

There is always the choice. There is already a mod available that will change the player profile section to that of FM 2007, complete with grass background and border.

Out of the 5224 pictures that are in the game there are only a small percentage that aren't good enough and probably shouldn't have been included.

I do agree with you regarding the small percentage of "faulty" pics in the game. But that was not really my point.

My point was that since the change to cut-out the community has been severely hampered in supplying full (or, as close as is possible) coverage of pics. And I do know that you can use mods, or revert to last years size through mods. But that is aswell not my point. The evolvement of the graphics would be a great step (as I point out, the effect is really nice) but not yet. When resources matches the demands of the effect it will be. This is not your concern it could be argued. But for me as an end user of both the product and the available mods/add ons supplied by the community I'd rather play without pics altogether. No fun in staring att a team full of black faces. Therefor I turn it off.

The other argument I had was with the users trying to tell WillemII@Tilburg to stop 'whining' which to me is redundant since he is (hopefully) a paying customer and should be allowed to say what he thinks regarding the product.

Meh, all in all FM08 is a step up. And I can indeed live without player pics. Even though it would be nice to see the mugs of my players.

First of all I would like to say that I appreciate the fact that Ter admits that 'quality control could have been a bit better'.

I also do agree with desalvo that the effect looks smashing if done properly. Ter says that only a small percentage of the 5224 pictures in the game aren't good enough, but the problem is that this means I will still stumble upon hundreds of bad quality pictures, which really ruins my FM-experience. Therefore, I will delete all pictures manually, which solves my problem.

I also think SI have made it very hard for users to add custom graphics in the same style, because it's very hard to find pictures of that size and quality... a bit more consideration would have been welcome.

HOWEVER: I really do want to congratulate Ter on the great new skin. It looks great and is a big step forward in general.

I don't really understand where all this complaining comes from. While the new facepack styles do represent a much larger challenge than the old ones did to make, I personally think they do look nicer (on the whole) if they are done correctly - and the majority of them are. Have a look at the ones on SUSIE ( click here) and you'll see what I mean.

I'm surprised that SI both made and included those faces, seems a bit sloppy and that isn't what I'd expect from them...

Well they did have thousands of players to do, quality control was bound to slip.

SIGames will probably fix these in a patch, it's not a big thing... plus, aren't the pictures by fans always better anyway?

I like the cutout designs, all of the packs from sortitoutsi are of excellent quality and I suggest everybody downloads them. It won't be long until entire leagues are finished and cutout megapacks are circulating.
