Default new to the group and have a few questions

Hey all I'll be the new guy here. Have some questions I hope someone can answer for me. I have tried to search on here for my answer but I just dont have the time to look through 38 pages of topics.

I am having problems when creating animated .gifs in ImageReady. I am going to attach some of the .gifs i have been doing and some individual frames to give you an idea. Also I make all fames in Photoshop and save as a .gif before switching to ImageReady.

Well here is the problem I am having. After I get the file complete and go to save (which I am guessing Save Optimized As... is the only way you can do it) a lot of my colors bleed (?) together. It seems as if the majority of the background is say red then it will shade all the lighter colors red. Any idea of what I am not doing right?

Here are some examples. Also please excuse my spelling as I am an aircraft mechanic not a school teacher.

Thanks for any help and all suggestions.

That's because GIF is limited to 256 colors, so you're going to lose some.

Thanks for the reply. So what are my options for this? Just suck it up and try to use less colors?

Well yes, and no mikesamillion.

You'll find you get better results with ani gifs if you do 2 things:

1) Try to use solid colours, not blends; whenever possible. 'Blends' also include blurring colours together.
2) Turn off "Dithering" when you save out the file. This will remove the speckled/spotted effect you're seeing in your animation. It will also help drive down the file size too.

NOTE: removing "dithering" on photographic images will basically have the effect of "posterizing" your photos. Which simply means this is a judgement call on a per-user basis.
