I have played FM since 1993 i think??!! Obviously due to the title i am disappointed with this release. I am trying to play it but just cant due to the changes made. NOT any of the bugs etc.
If someone can tell me what i can do to solve my problem then please tell me as i would like to play this game but just cant because of my hatred for it.
The problem is the matchday experience. Whenever i go to 'submit my team' that annoying screen with the tactics and the small squad list comes up. Yes i can cancel the tactics screen i know which will show my squad in full with condition/apps/goals etc. However i had a situation recently where all my LM's were injured in my first team squad. No problem i thought i'll go to the reserve squad.......Trouble is its no longer a click away and neither is the squad list.
As i said the squad list is available if you close the tactics screen, and even then you dont have the position markers at the top telling you which positions are covered. I always used to drag those down rather than click on the side of the player to select his position. Choosing someone out of my reserve squad is a case of open filters, select player from a messy screen, then close filters. So annoying!
I dont see why this has all been changed, before it was so flexible and now you have this layout with no option to change it. Or do you?
Before people start saying just click a few clicks, i dont want to! I enjoyed it the way it was, simple. Clicking on every match just to get rid of that tactics screen and not being able to see my squad's(reserve and youth) is bad. What if i want to blood young players in a match? Switch filters on / turn off every time? How annoying.
Also i dont want to know about key men and how they performed, thats why i watch the match, i dont need people to tell me. I dont want to know someones prediction for the outcome of the game either. yet another silly inclusion for this matchday experience.
I know you can turn it off too, but this changes little if anything!
Is there a way around this or am i stuck with it?
I would love to be able to play the game but the matchday experience has ruined it for me. The games going in the bin if i cant resolve this issue.
if you want to look in your reserves and youth teams then just go into the normal squad screen before the game and sort out your team that way. It doesn't take any more effort than it did in the past.
A lot of the matchday stuff does seem a little pointless, especially the key player performance stuff but does it really ruin your experience that much? just skip through it all.

I didnt realise all my LM's were injured till i got into the matchday process. The whole point of seeing your squad before the match is cos injuries happen hours before a game. I dont think the new layout helps anything, i see your point but mine is that things happen very close to the game and you cant always prepare.
And yes it annoys me soooo much, i seriously cant play the game and am still on 07 cos of it. Tried about 5 times to ignore it all and click through it but the LM situation just made me crack.

Just click "show filters" and then select to include the reserves and/or juniors.
but then i have a squad list the size of my nose, and believe me i have a big nose. It looks untidy and even if i do that then i still have the problem of the tactics screen every time.
another thing i might add (not a bug), but in fm07 when i saved a tactic, opposition instructions were saved with that tactic which meant adjusting the instructions for different formations every match, rather than re-doing the same OI's every match like in fm08. or am i doin something wrong? if not, why take this away in the first place?
btw, i usually click on a player then team name to do any reserve promoting during matchday experience.
While I applaud you putting this forward in a constructive way I have to say that this is such a minor issue that saying you'll bin the game if you can't get it resolved is rediculous.
Getting to your squad screen and then being able to do all the things the same way you could in '07 is literally 1 click away.
Are you seriously saying it's too much like hard work to click from the matchday tactics screen to the squad screen?
I understand that you find this feature something of an annoyance but saying 'I would love to be able to play the game but the matchday experience has ruined it for me. The games going in the bin if i cant resolve this issue.' is just way over the top.

I dont think it is, as i said if you look at my whole argument, if i want to blodd new talent on a spur of the moment thing, its a case of switching filters on and off etc. This is very annoying and as matches are the main thing here i cant enjoy the game because of it.
