what is the point of the "was it a penalty/sending off" news items?
i'm all for immersion and being part of the game, but what is the point of the news items from the press asking you "X got sent off, was it justified" or "Y believes that it was never a penalty"
you have the list of comments, but how can you reply correctly when all you have to work on is 2 blobs near to each other on a pitch?!
the offside descisions yeah, thats a little better as you can visually see if its offside or not (ignoring the often weird descisons given) but how can you tell if blob X fouled blob Y?

Good point, you cant tell can you. That is a fact.
More worrying for me is the lack of options you get when answering. The options are very poor, simply criticise which gets you in trouble or accept which puts you at risk with your players morale.
If you do criticise and the FA dont respond you sometimes get to appeal. If you appeal have you ever had a decision turned around? I certainly havent. Every sending off i have appealed against has never been turned around, even though they admit the decision was wrong!

Your suppose to judge it by the match report and the commentary. But in all honesty it doesnt work just select "you didnt see it" and continue the game.
The FA are never wrong anyways.

I've got a problem with these news items because I never get them right. I complain about the decision almost every time, even if it's just to accumulate the touchline bans. But on FM07 I actually got a few that came back with "FA stays silent on Hufton criticism", but this year I've been wrong on every single one apparently. I'm pretty sure out of all the controversial decisions that are made some would have to go my way.

Yeah I did once in FM2005. In fact it turned out to be a bug :o :o :o, as my FA had overturned a UEFA dceision (or the otehr way round) :o

yeah.
on the one hand you get get touchline bans for effectively guessing if the decision is correct but what do you get if you cause a stink and you're right? "the fa have decided to stay silent" and nothing else happens, well whoopee-****ing-do!
theres not really a risk vs reward in replying to the media is there?
at work so i cant check atm, but in 06 or 07, you had a "media friendly" rating or similar so there was a reason to talk to the press, but is there one in fm08?
i feel its my job to rant and rave about decisions like that to the media as i want to stick up for my players.

It sometimes elicits e response from the players e.h., "feel the manager was right to complain" or "feels the manager should speak up for his players". Whether this has any affect on a players performance/morale I don't know.
