Having read these posts many times, i've kinda noticed that English players tend to be so expensive. I've obviously also found this to be true in all my games as well. I'm currently managing Leeds, and would love to sign mostly english players, but u know, i can get a player of comporable skill and attributes from Brazil, France, Argentina, etc, for usually half to a quarter of the price. Does anyone else find this odd? I signed Nicky Shorey recently, as he's tailor made for the tactics i use, though i had to pay 13mill for him, yet, there were numerous other D/WBL that i could've signed who are either as good or have the potential to be as good, like Benzerga, Carlinhos, Villagra, Balzaretti, etc. In this case, i signed Shorey as i wanted to go for a UK player, but still, makes you wonder....

How is it that English players are so expensive? Post #2
no doubt about it, Shorey's class, but its same IRL, English players are vastly overrated, vastly overpriced and to top it all off, they all have big egos. They're in it just for the money. Sure, some might be worth the cash(i think Rooney's more than worth his price tag) but others(Darren Bent)are just bought for the sake of having an Englishman.
On the other hand, the best England players are got for low prices. Walcott was got from Southampton by Arsenal for a low price(lower than Bent and I think he could be better), Lampard was raised from West Ham and switched to Chelsea, The Neville brothers were part of United's youth academy, in fact, Utd's youth academy was to have the best generation of English players yet. Scholesy, Beckham, Nevilles, the class is there. West Ham too, Cole, Lampard. Englishman are raised from young, which is why clubs might be reluctant to part with their players for more money.
In short, it's a gamble. Is the player overrated and not worth it(Bent), or is he really class(Rooney)?

was an initial fee of £5m, rising to a possible £12m based on appearances for club and country, making him the most expensive 16-year-old in the history of British football.

We still got a good deal out of him, if he had played in the World Cup we were due another 3 mil. The instant he plays for him we've got loads in the bank.
10 mil origianlly
3 mil after some league games
3 mil after international games

The irony of all this is if they make the changes regarding the amount of English players on the roster for Champ League, it's going to be difficult methinks. I for one only make the 4/8 because i'm using my u-18's as well as some other nationalities that signed when they were young and now fit under the rules regarding how long they've trained w/me as well as the ages they've trained with me
