Default Frustrated and disappointed

Firstly I just want to say that the CM/FM series has given me so many hours of enjoyment over the years that I have played that I don't feel in any way that SI owe me anything.
I have never experienced another game that I could happily invest so much time into and not get bored.
However I have found this year to be a shambles. Ignoring the two beta patches and the problems they threw up, as I believe that a beta is just that, unfinished. The official patch, while addressing a lot of problems, is still a long way short of a satisfactory fix in my opinion.
Training is a huge issue for me at the moment, with no visible signs of improvement, making developing youth talent a waste of time.
The shots on target to goal ratio is awful, people can harp on about how in real life the stats are the same, however the 2d engine seems to translate this into turning the strikers into poor players and keepers into world beaters.
The match engine seems to be a poor engine with a lot of band aid fixes added as an afterthought.
Last year I felt that player team talk was more of a nuisance, with only one option ever really working. This year I think is the exact same. In fact the media interaction is poor and I see no change this year.
It feels that the entire game has only had a cosmetic facelift. Making it quite a costly update!
One thing I thought looked good was the confidence section with more variety behind it but it doesn't seem to work that well.
From reading other posts on the forum I know a lot of people will disagree with me, however this is just my opinion and I felt like airing it.

There are some improvements, but my strikers doesn't seem to have that killer instinct anymore. Normally my strikers (i.e. Huntelaar, Palacio....) need a 1/2 of a chance to score a goal.

Besides that the closing down / defending bug isn't solved completely.

My view is that they keep adding new features and interface uplifts as marketing gimicks to sell the product. The core game play hasn't changed much and it needs much improvement. The match engine could be a lot better, and why not make some cosmetic changes to the match engine? They waste so much time on the rest of the game that the main things get missed

Training, the match engine and tactics all need improvement. I don't see anything really different in any of these areas from last year's game. These are the areas they need to work on, yet they've wasted it on the stuff that doesn't really matter.

fm08 has been a joy thus far. 8.01 just made everything better. i beat arsenal 5-1 in emirates!! woooooooooooooooo!!

everything tactically that i learned to be true in fm07, now just works in fm08.

features etc are necessary, and i would have no respect for si if they did not include improved features in each version.

and goodness, owen's PA was reduced. YAY!!

i'm managing chelsea.

*you're

Fabiesto, I have to say I normally play lower league, but I have even tried with bigger teams to see if my strikers would take their chances better but it seems not!
I have tried so many different tactical variations and structures, given my teams time to gel but I get nowhere

yea superalex, you need to look at the tactics forum, more importantly the bible section (if its available) and ignore other people's tactics. so far, all i've used is a custom formation with si suggested settings for each position, and my own team settings.

i'm not sure i'll play some lower league just yet! but thus far, quality does seem to shine and drogba owns. i don't like chelsea team irl, but since mourinho left, i thought i'd take a chance at managing against the likes of ferguson and wenger.
