I can't really put in words very well. ;\ But heres a pic:

I have tried with layers, but I just can't figure out how to do it. Always my layers were transparent, so it looked like i was discussing with ghostly me. (Layers were transparent?) I'd be soooo thankful if someone would explain it to me.

Make a selection and turn it into a Layer Mask.
