Having seen the pitiful fine that was meted out to the serbian football authorities after the Racist Abuse suffered by English players by their fans and apparntly their players, are UEFA and Fifa actually making a difference to the racism that is in the sport. I play sunday league football and have experienced many name caling and racist incidents, which when I have taken up with the referees or managers have been ignored. If the governing bodies are making such a major issue a offence worthy of a fine less than £50,000 then is there any point in taking the abuse. Maybe black and asian players should take the Samuel Eto'o route and walk off the pitch as if this happened a lot of games would be disrupted FORCING FIFA and UEFA to act appropriately.
Another solution would be to tell fans that if they hear any Racist abuse coming from another fan to tell a steward or whatever then this racist fans details will be took he will be fined and warned that his season ticket will be taken from him if he does racist stuff again... and if he does do it again take the season ticket and fine him even more money...
you know UEFA have said the Fine should be alot bigger, but i agree with what you have said already and they Should suspend the team from European competitions for 0-1 year atleast.
