Default Changing WSM08 to FM08

Hey I live in the states so it's hard for me to get FM. Instead I get this localized version "worldwide soccer manager." I don't like the localized version at all, the patches for it are released later than FM patches and third-party programs often don't work with it.

With WSM07 somehow I was able to switch the game from WSM to FM, and I think I did it through applying one of the patches. So I downloaded the FM 8.0.1 patch and it seemed to work, but then when I tried to open it it told me the wsm CD wasn't in the drive (which it was).

I've since reinstalled it but I would like to play with the patch and I wondered if anyone else had this problem and figured out a way to fix it.

Thanks...

Doesn't sound like you can successfully cross-patch your game. Otherwise, I don't think they'd be taking the time to produce separate patches.

And I think you can get third-party programs to work if you change the WWSM install directory to create a 'Football Manager' folder instead of the default 'Worldwide Soccer Manager' folder. That way, the third party programs will find the main 'Football Manager XXXX' folder they're designed to look for.

But I think they made separate patches in the last game too and I was able to switch then.

Changing the folder names sometimes works but sometimes doesn't. For instance, save game cleaners made for fm haven't worked on wwsm save files in the past.

Is there any way someone in north america can get a copy of the normal FM08 game? I've looked for digital downloads but can't find them.

You have to download it and install it. When you try and use the update button is says WWSM08 is an unknown application. LOL that's how they treat us here in North America their own site doesn't recognize the game.
