my apologies if this has been covered, i have tried searching for respective thread but found nothing.
i admit to not being great on computers and don't know how to install the downloaded patch....now now stop laughing, just some advice please.

It's an auto-instal, therefore doesn't matter where you download it to in your computer, just save it, click on it, it'll open a window with a button to "update", click on that and Robert is your mother's brother.

as i said, thanks for the advice, its now installed but i notice that martin jol is still at spurs......is that right?

I think that depends on if you start a new game or continue a save game.

Definitely does. Existing save games won't have their data updated.

ok, and what about other aspects of the patch? do they only come into play if i start a new game?

No most will happen instantly, some might not work until the next season or a new game. Depends on the fix.

It should be ok continuing your game.

If you start a new game with the updated database you will have full beneficial off the patch from day one.

I heard before thatif you continue a savegame the patch will be worked in over time until you start the next season.
