Default Is it stable on WinXP-64?

Hi, I just ordered a new motherboard,core2duo and 4GB of memory.
Does FM08 run stable on XP64? coz I really want to utilze those 4GB of memory and I know XP32 can't use 4BG of memory.
So I consider installing XP64 (Vista is still crap)

I have all Microsoft OS' through the Microsoft actionpack so I can choose, but I really don't want to use Vista yet, so should I go XP32 or XP64 for FM (and other games).

It's perfectly fine on xp64. I ran it on x64 from release, to a few weeks ago as I switched back to the WinXP Pro (32) for unreleased reasons.

Just a hint, you won't get any use out of the extra 2gb of ram, might as well save the money and get WinXP.

Having used both, I'd say stick to WinXP Pro, there were some niggling issues with x64 as well as just being less suitable for certain games (not FM).

Well I multitask ALOT, I always have 10-15 programs and apps running so I think I'll need the memory.
My old S-939 motherboard died on me so I had to go from a AMD X2 4400, 3GB ram to a P4 3.4Ghz 2GB ram and the P4 can't handle my use of a computer. Mostly coz of single core, but it page like crazy at times too.

XP32 can use upto 4GB ram, but only 2GB for applications and another 2GB for Kernel

XP64 and Vista can use upto 128GB ram. On FM you will probably never use 4G, but if you use 2GB it's nice to have 2 more free for other processes

I'm actually running Vista 64, is there no way to tell it to allow FM the full 4gb just to run more leagues, faster gameplay etc?

Cheers.

The game core may have a memory cap, I don't know. But it should use memory as needed as long as you have free memory.
But I know many games have caps of how much memory it can use.
Star Wars Galaxies for instance will never use more than 1.5GB of memory no mather how much you have installed (75% of 2GB Max).

Just a quick question, have you done your research in terms of the applications and games that you usually use and whether they will all be supported on a 64-bit OS..?

Theres been many times recently that i've almost installed a 64-bit OS onto my laptop although the hassle that it would cause in terms of application driver issues outways the benefits. Then when you start talking about running games, your in another whole world of *****. :/

What is it exactly that you need that amount of processing power for, I know you mentioned running lots of applications etc. Taking a stab in the dark I assume it's either going to be things like large programming-type applications, video/graphic editing suites, etc.

Very stable

I'm running XP Pro 64 and had only 2 crash dumps in 15 seasons.

I'm sure people running XP 32 & Vista have had more.

I got my parts today, built the computer, installed XP64 ran winupdate and did a fully systems update.
Tried to install FM, the installer started I chose English language and it started to inspact my system. Then I got a error msg "setup can not run on your configuration". think it was install anywhere that couldn't run on my XP64 system.

I had a few bluescreens too, not FM ralated. I updated all drivers, but couldn't get XP64 to run stable. Reinstalled XP32 and I could install FM no problem and no bluescreens either.
