Let me start by saying that i'm really enjoying FM08;overall it is the best cm/fm to date (imho). Yet, just a few imporvements/tweaks could make it legendary. If SI could read my suggestions for improvements/fixes for the next patch it will make me (and i'm sure many others) a happy man indeed.

Please consider the following:-

Wages/Contracts

1) Players make some strange decisions re contracts. An example is as Spurs I offered a player 45k p/w in the knowledge that Sporting Lisbon were after him aswell.

He ended up signing for Sporting on 10.5kp/w. Now I'm aware that Sporting were in Champs League and Spurs were not but would a player move to (arguably) a less reputable club in a less reputable league for a quarter of the wage? I think it unlikely, but if, in the rare occurence, there were a special reason (i.e.really, really wants to play in champs league) the game should notify the player of that.

International Management

2) Whilst mildly impressed with the international overhaul this bit needs work. When managers fail to get their respective major international teams to big tournament (a la Mcclaren) there should be uproar and the manager sacked immediately with much media specualation about replacements etc. As it is there is nothing; in my game Mcclaren was'nt even sacked after crashing out of euro qualifiers. This is serioously unrealistic and needs to be rectified.

3) According to the patch changelist media items about injured players being dropped had been rectified but in my game the porblem is still there. Lampard was injured but I still the media itema bout him being 'left in the cold'.

4) The age old problem (which has been there since FM05; BEING OFFERED ANY INTERNATIONAL JOB DESPITE HAVING NONE OR NEXT TO NO EXPERINCE (sorry for shouting but this one really bugs me). People say this bug is not a problem; just don't apply until you think you deserve to be an international manager. They might have a point but the game is supposed to be a simulation and by having this bug/cheat it ruins the immersion. I want to be the outsider who applys for the England job against the odds in the futile hope that I'll get it; not the outsider who already knows it's a foregone conclusion.

Match Engine

4)Match Engine superb but two problems. Firstly the much mentioned goals/shots ratio. Though I love the 0-0's and lack of goals( very realsitic) as well as the 1-0 defeats in Zagreb on a January evenign despite constant possesion (again this is very tue to life) I can't help but think that slightly too many easy chances are missed by supposed top strikers.

5) Another point on match engine- sometimes when I am attacking (and, obviously, in the opposition box, the commentry says that the oppostition should have had a penalty and I am asked about in a media news item after.


That is all I can think of at the moment. At this point I'd like to make an impassioned plea to SI: please sort out these issues (particularly international management), please don't leave them till FM09, this game (for me at least) is so so close to perfection. Please make it happen.
