Leave 'em alone. They're doing a great job by providing an excellent game.
But seriously, who the hell wants to spend all day talking to a bunch of virtual football managers?
I can't blame 'em...

We have a right to complain because we pay. I think too many of you forget that SI doesn't make the game because they like us and want to provide us with joy and lollipops, so when their testing regiment is obviously not good enough we have a right to complain without 12-55 year old fanboys telling us to shutup. Anyone with a brain knows how Q Ampersand A works, what we don't understand is how they can justify making a 'fix' less than a month before release that wrecks something else and release it anyway because 'they have a schedule'. **** that fix the new problem and put back the release date you tools, its not our fault you ****ed up and thus we shouldn't be ABLE to buy a damn near completely broken game that wont be 'fixed' until 3 months after we got it. For those who have bought the games before yes we know its not going to be great when we buy it but for newcomers wtf sort of deal is it to provide a shatted out abortion of a first version? SI live off the good will of its LOYAL fanbase but if it weren't for the CM days I'm betting FM would never of survived past 2006.

Again, people in this thread prove that they have no clue whatsoever how the software industry works.
At my company, we sell a software package that costs about £250/€350+VAT for one single seat of the simple version, with a new version coming every odd 18 months.
It is not a game, it is a completely serious database, that is being used for business-critical solutions by many companies (from one-man enterprises to top 500 companies).
Do you think it's bug-free? Keep dreaming, no such software exists. We also get people moaning that we should skip a version to make the old version perfect instead of implementing new features.
Think about it.
That would mean, that Database07 would be a lot better (never perfect, bug-free doesn't exist) in 2009. The consequences? The software would be 2 years behind the times (so it wouldn't get sold anymore. Other companies would run away with the brand spanking shining new fad of the day features and user interface) and the company wouldn't raise any money in 2008. Are we going to live of thin air during that time? Or are we just going to borrow the money, hoping to gain it all back next year by selling the software for double the price?
With all due respect, guys, as long as you don't know how companies need to work to keep afloat and succesful, some of you here are being so cringeworthy it's unreal. Note, that I don't say in this post if FM08 is 'acceptable' or not, that is not the point of this post. I'm just pointing out that arguments are being dished out here that are, again with all due respect, complete and utter clueless bull crap. |

So, so funny.
FM2010 will have had two year's work on it from now whether an FM2009 gets released or not. Not releasing an FM2009 isn't going to change the laws of time.

I've had my differences with the SI guys over the years over various issues with the game but I would still rather buy a management game made by SI at this point than any of the other competitors as they are still a long way ahead of the competition in terms of what I look for in a game.
I know of very few other companies that allow such direct criticism on their forums or provide such interaction (though this has dropped over the last few months, which given the attitude of the forum at time I don't blame them totally for not wanting to hang out here - but that's a topic for the 'These Forums' sticky thread that has been discussed to death).
What I do know is that the SI guys are passionate about their product and passionate about the game of football and if there are problems they are as disappointed as anyone else about it.
At the end of the day though there is nothing forcing you to go out and buy the game every year. There's a six month demo that gives you enough game time to decide whether or not this years version is a game you could see yourself playing for hours on end. This year it wasn't for me so I didn't buy it - you do have that much choice you know.

I agree with what you say, except for the six month demo part. You can't get extensive info on the game with it.For instance, you don't know how the newgens look(attributes,CA,PA etc). You don't know how the finances at the end of the season work. You don't know how the board confidence sums up etc.I'm not saying it must be longer though,it's right as it is.I'm just saying that I played the demo and although I wasn't entirely happy with what I saw,I still bought the game based on my experience with earlier releases and not based of six months of gameplay.

Haha people make me laugh.
I don't think some people appreciate that the guys from SI devote all their working time to making this game more enjoyable to the consumer.

If it were posible, and if SI said they would skip FM09 to issue a "perfect" FM10 how many buyers would be happy? My estimate is less than 5%.

What?
I was banking on the non-release of FM09 and the time laws changing on release day of FM10!
I had £10 on it with BF @ 25/1
Im starting to think i could have been fool hardy
Anywho. SI do get about a bit, but have been working hard. I personally think its the mods that need to be around helping more. They are the core of the site, imho, and dont do enough. I know they do not get paid, and do it in there spare time, and i apreciate that, so perhaps more mods would be good. But in the FMO forum, i've waited days, sometimes weeks for answers from a mod, and when i finally get one, its always of little or no help, and usually comes with a side plate of sarcasm. Not Good :thdn:
