i dont like the "confidence --> signings" part of the game at all!
i dont know anyone else's feeling about it, but i find it not very well implemented.
sometimes i buy a star player for a huge fee, for the future, sometimes i buy a backup player.
what i dont like, is how game works out the fan's perception of the signing.
it seems to be on an average rating over X games because usually with a new player, you want to slowly introduce a player into the team by bringing him on near the end of a game as a sub.
but if you do that, the fans slate your decision to buy that player.
if you want to bring in a wonderkid youngster and slowly give him games as a sub for the season because hes not ready to start yet.. well you cant without most likely incurring the wrath of the board. WHY!?
rant over!

If it isn't it already they should make it reflect the players squadstatus. As in if you sign someone as a first team player the fans should expect the player to play that part and do it satisfying. If you sign someone with a hot prospect status they should on the other hand consider what the player might be capable of in the future and focus on how they feel you are investing for the future.

If you sign an 18 year old who you only play as a substitute for the last quarter of the game to get him some first team action and he's averaging 6's and 7's, the fans shouldn't be so harsh on him.
How's that going to affect the player's confidence? "I'm only playing 15 minutes a match, I'm only 18, but already the fans think I'm crap."
When this has happened I've sent the player out on loan - this removes him from the signings confidence screen.
