Default Why the Change to FMF Files

Why have SI changed the skinning setup to FMF files? This obviously prevents significant changes/new skins for Football Manager 2008.

I may be mistaken, but I was sure SI said a Media Editor would be released a few years back, and never really happened. I hope Sega or SI have not changed the file structure to try and have FM a consistant look and feel.

I don't get what was wrong with the previous structure. So why the change?

Media editor was released ages ago.

There's an FMF extractor coming along soon that will allow people to extract files from the FMFs to create their own skins.

fmf files will eventually make it easier for everyone.

If you want to install a skin all you need to do is put the fmf file in the right folder. Same for other graphics like logos/facepacks etc.

Makes it far more idiot proof.

I would have thought that this would make editing graphics easier in the long run to would it now?

For instance either SI or a third party could create a very nice interface for creating graphics, based on the extractor. It's something which has been missing so far and i'm surprised nobody has endeavoured to create.

Would create a graphic making revolution.

doesn't the fmf system mean that the games runs quicker as it doesn't have to use the config to put the files in the right place?
