And I play this strange game, even if England did WON the Euro 2008 in my game.

Maybe it was the song contest? Don't care, as long as I'm not an international manager.

In the past when the England job or another big job was vacant it was filled with a manager of appropriate quality and experience. Why does the international jobs work differently to club?
In my new game I started with the England job vacant and the Birmingham job. A regen was given the England job with a rep of Local, best skill physio! The Birmingham job went to Trevor Francis, ok wont go to him in real life but its easy to see why it happened in the game.
In the pre-patched game the vacant England job always went to a manager of high reputation, usually in my game it went to Mourinho but now its a regen who is actually a physio!

Suffice to say that the regen if its as talentless as as you say will not last.
NO - this is not correct.

All the other jobs left blank - like PLYMOUTH were vacant and then filled by likely candidates (in that case, MIKE NEWELL).

So - a blank job is not taken by a random.

Or (clearly) there a difference between International and Domestic ?

Could this be resolved in the game by treating Nations and Clubs i.e. having a "chairman" (chief executive) and applying the same "programming" as clubs for management vacancy filling ??

Considering the pride taken in the size and accuracy of the FM database by one and all surely there is no need for the game to generate a random regen for any international manager job ?

The AI attempts to fill vacant jobs as best as it can do.

Were the any available managers with better stats who would , according to AI routines, actually apply for the management job?
..............i think your exotic banter is missing the point here. On start up the job should be vacant, end of.

i am really ****ed about this tbh.....making a data update is impossible with this problem, and who knows maybe other countries have got newgens managing them when they shouldn't...i remember fm 07 the congo job was always vacant at start of game. I really want a S.I response on this matter not a smug mod

I guess the main problem is, that an International job can't be vacant when there is a qualifying still running.

So what I said earlier is the problem: You can't adopt the current state to a game that starts 6 month before in every circumstances.

We are only talking a difference of 4 months - not a huge difference.

All other managerial chanbges are in place, such as Mourinho, Neil Warnock, etc which are all after summer 2007.

So I find your point rather silly :p

Was that because McClown was sacked and then another recruited or did you edit it to start it vacant ?

I suspect the latter so this "issue" was probably coded from the start, probabaly in fm07 as well.

Don't get me wrong, not a game breaker by any means. But I thought an opportunity to point it out, debate, suggest the reason and give a possible solution which is why I started the topic.

Following the "THIS FORUM" thread, I find the tone a little disappointing.
