In the CM01-02 game that your playing, are Bournemouth and Millwall struggling to get out of the relegation zone? Are Brighton sitting in the play-offs? Are Carlisle looking down on everyone at the top of the league? I doubt that the league table in your game greatly reflects the one in real life. Just because in one game you did better then the other, it doesn't mean that game is more realistic.

Yup I failed using the same formation and tactics as Leeds do in real life.......yet it is successful in CM01-02, much like real life.

Hmmmmmm </BLOCKQUOTE>

How in god's name do you know what tactics Leeds use in real life? Or are you in fact Dennis Wise?

Yes you can see what formation they use and get an idea of the style of play they have but by no means can you accurately recreate exactly what the manger tells his players to do.

Your perspective on this one is all wrong I'm afraid.

also then started a game with Leeds in FM 08 and decided that I would keep the players I had and try and use the same formation and tactics that Leeds use in real life.
where did you get the databas from,
also do you know of a datebase for fm 07 or 08 with the 01-02 db

Right, so somehow FM should acknowledge that you are using the same tactics as Leeds do in real life, then also make your opposition play exactly the same way real life teams do, and then mimic the exact player actions and results Leeds get each weekend.

I see what you're saying now. Yes, the game is terribly unrealistic and SI should be burned alive for such atrocities. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Now now be nice as the stick says about posting on the forum.

All I have pointed out is with the same team, same formation and tactics that FM08 I get sacked and struggle whilst in Cm 01-02 portrays more accurately real life.

Plus the fact that even though I am a SI fan I have enjoyed reliving the CM 01-02 experience with an update database rather than FM08 which makes me wonder where SI are going with the game series.

Again, it doesn't more accurately portray real life as you're not the manager of Leeds in real life, you have no-way of knowing exactly what Dennis Wise says to his players or instructs them to do and you therefor cannot accurately recreate this in either game.

But fair enough if you find the 'pick up and play' games more enjoyable, which is undeniably what the older games in the series were.

But many people, myself included, do prefer the direction the game has taken and definitely prefer it being more in-depth and more challenging. Each to their own I suppose.

To me, all it really 'proves' is that Dennis Wise would have more success in playing FM08 than you do.

PLayed a bit of 01/02 this summer after getting in a rut with 07. Much more fun as I achieved 4 promotions in 7 years. But then the lower league players all had awesome stats and the jumps between divisions were negligable.

Having started 2 Doncaster (ie L1) games plus a demo I can say Leeds were flying in all 3.

What you are doing isnt a true test as you are using your tactics. Obviously these are suited better to CM01/02 (so Im guessing are more attacking?) whereas if your tactics were more counter-attacking based 'm guessing you'd do better in 08 than 01/02.

The true test in this instance is for you to mimmick Wise's tactics as close as you can they play both games. If you still do better in 01/02 than 08 then your conclusion is more valid.

The only concrete solution you have at the moment is that your current tactic is better suited to 01/02 than 08. So that could prove or disprove lots of similar situations. (eg I would be the opposite, I'm doing well with Doncaster using a counter attacking 442, if I put this into CM01/02 Id start struggling).

Very interesting test though mate - keep us posted!

You cant compare the two games. It's retarded to try and do that. Also comparing them to real life is idiotic. (not you, but the comparison).

IRL - Leeds will set their team up entirely different - Have you scouted out their training sessions, bugged every away dressing room so you can mimic team talks and instructions? As someone previously said, unless you are Mr Wise himself, there is no way you can play the same tactics, plus a computer game will not let you manage a team as you would in real life.

Managers IRL have actual relationships with their players, not "player interaction".

Plus, it just goes to show how lazy a manager you are on FM08 as you can't be bothered to sound out a team and choose a line up and tactic that will work against your current opponent. instead, you clearly stick with the same tactic all season, hoping it gets you where you expect it should.

"It's a Rookie mistake and ya RE-HEAAAAALY hate t see it."

Why the hell do you make assumption that I choose a tactic and stick with it for a whole season?

I did this for an experiment but I do not play like that!

What a moron.
