If you have a look at the registration dates of the users of such threads they are usually post '07!
It's the new FM players that have no history or loyalty to SI! I've been playing since way back in the days of the Amiga. Most on here don't realise that FM is the original CM.
Also most of the complaint threads always start at 3.30-4.00pm!! Wonder why??
Not wanting to sound like an old man but it pretty much some up society in general!!
The only word of advice I'd say is try to ignore this thread and hope people realise these forums are here to help people!

| I think it is unfair to compare FM to a broken down car - FM is not stopping completely. If we have to do the car analogy thing, then it is more of a knocking noise that distracts you from driving. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I hate car analogies but after a little thought I have one .
If pre-patch FM08 was a car with inbuilt sat-nav, it wouldn't necessarily break down, but you wouldn't be too happy about the purchase either. First of all you would plug in your sat-nav and tell it you wanted to go to Scotland from London. After some lefts and some right and some careful following of the sat-navs instructions, you would have a spot of lunch in Exeter before dinner in Norwuch and an overnight stay in Cardiff.
While driving at high speeds the boot would pop open for no reason on a regular basis and the windscreen wipers and lights would flash on and off intermittently for no apparrant reason that you could fathom. The petrol in the tank would also dissipate for no reason and despite you pumping more and more in, it would still run out of fuel. The problem it seems can be traced back to the amount of fuel that can be placed into the tank and this is being looked at.
Upon complaining to the makers and distributors of the car, they would say that the car was in fact "quite driveable", but they would be making alterations, however could not tell me how long these alterations might take. Then when they had some of these alterations available, when asked what they had fixed, they would tell me that they could not tell me and that I must install them to the car in order to find out.
Upon having the car "fixed" In would find that the car now only travelled at half it's previous top speed and although some of the issues such as the fuel running out would still be apparrant.
The makers and distributors of the car would still claim that the car was "driveable" in it's current position, and to be honest they are right, (just as long as you don't plan on going further than the end of the road).
Sorry, car analogies suck I know .

| No no .. It was brilliant
I think however that people fuss - to much, and agreeing with Tim77 I think most people who come here moaning don't really understand what they are talking about.
I know I am not the only one who is really enjoying this game, many of my friends have it and none of them have moaned about these errors - and I am certainly really enjoying it. Unpatched.

Absolutely perfect however for some people it does in fact break down every time they turn it on from what I have read in the bugs forum.

Its not just the SI forum. Havent seen a game released in the past 2 years that doesnt get hammered in a forum for some reason or other.
Right or wrong its the way the internet is evolving. Just ends up with less and less devs reading or paying any attention to forums, or even removing forums from their websites completly.
While I do agree that all game production houses DO need to invest more in professional beta testing programs, I do appreciate the SI devs in the way they communicate and accept user feedback etc ... that kind of thing is VERY rare these days and should always appreciated.

| Have to disagree. I too have been playing since the champ man years, but have only recently joined the forums. Mainly because of my disgust in which 08 was released.I agree nothings perfect, but having paid hard earned money for a buggy game then i feel im entitled to show my disapproval.

It’s a sign of time, people have no respect anymore.
They want it now, fast and perfect. And for free.
People have a narrowed vision.
They see a few bugs and the whole game is crap.
They don’t see the beautifulness anymore that’s loaded in the game, with or without the patch.
It’s not only about that patch, this behaviour is everywhere.
Good for us is that SI & Sega are making lots of money from this game.
Else they would say 'F**K OFF, do it by yourself if you pretend you can do it better!'

Just like to add my positive comment -well done SI. This a great game that is sure to bring me hours of enjoyment as past FM games have. Also how many other compaines would listen to complaints aboutr their game and release a patch within a few weeks of release fixing the problems. Great customer relations - well done guys!
