Footballer of the Year was always my favourite I have such fond memories of that game. I would dearly love t find a downloadable version but have never been sucessful. I suspect though if I did then my memories of it being genious would be severly wrong.

I had an Amstrad as a kid and got into these games with the original Football Manager's 1 & 2. But Football Director II was so much more in depth and I believe it set a (very basic) template for the original CM.

I got my first PC in 93 and have been playing CM/FM ever since.

Rather a lot.

•The original Football Manager.
•The Manager
•Tactical Manager
•FIFA Manager
•Premier Manager
•Ultimate Soccer Manager
•Champion League Manager since version 01
•LMA
And a few others…

Anyone played such games by mail?

In the late 80ties this one was very popular.

You received every week (!) some data, you could make transfers, setup your squad and a few other stuff and then you mailed (and not by e-mail) it back.

A few days later you could find the results in your real mailbox.

I loved 1-0 back in the day. Nothing like taking Blackpool to the top of the Superleague.

Good lord, I knew I'd forgotten one. I loved that game, it was the first footy management game I bought when I switched to PCs. The 98-99 edition was cool too, especially if you won the league, there would be a news item where a female fan had called into a football phone-in to announce that she wanted to have your babies!

Wow! Tracksuit Manager brings back some really old memories. I must've played that when I was about 8. I vaguely remember it being very....yellow.

Treble Champions on Spectrum - thought it was awesome at the time. Got me into Footy sim games and got me back into football proper!.

Then Premier Manager - bought the Amiga just for that game - guy in shop thought I was mad!

In those days of made up names /no licenses, you had to enter all player names yourself. Actually enjoyed that in an anal kind of way.
