I always seemed to manage ok with cm and fm pre 2007, but no matter what team or whatever I do in 2007 or 2008 I seen to be rubbish. Is it a reputation thing ? Do you need to start low now and biuld up ??

FM 07 wasn't so bad, 08 was a pain, at least in accomplishing my first goal, getting Ipswich promoted, I managed that in the first season on 07, on 08 it looked like no matter how much I improved my team, I'd be stuck in the play-offs for an eternity, eventually went up that way, but that was after 3 seasons. it seems the championship is much tougher, haven't done anything else for long enough to be able to comment on what other tasks are like.

Thanks, I got sacked by december with Spurs, when I used to at least get them into europe. Also just been sacked by coventry rock bottom of championship in Jan. Ill try div 2 next.

Really? I absolutely walked the Championship in my first season with Wolves. Although i did find the Premiership a seriously tougher league and went straight back down.

I am finding it hard in the conference with a set of football league players, i would say its much harder.

i think 08 is alot easier than 07

I failed to win anything in 07 with Man Utd but in 08 I have won quadruple, 3 premierships in a row etc.

However, I have stopped playing because the amount of shots and lack of goals I have is ridiculous after the patch. Guess I have to wait until the next patch. *sigh* Thanks SI, your brilliant, I hope your happy now

really? I'm finding the opposite, I'm having a whale of a time in the premiership, although I haven't been in it long enough (just over half a season) to tell whether my current good form is just a one season one-off.

It's harder due to the match engine/tactical changes from the previous version. With the past few editions I've found that it takes me a while to find out "what works", once I do it levels out again.
