Zola without a doubt! True Gent!

Personally have to disagree with Bergkamp. Whilst I agree he was one of the most gifted players to have graced the premiership, I found he got a bit niggly in his latter years, occassionally throwing the odd elbow. Might just be me but something I noticed.

yeah thats why we are thinking of those who go as close as possible.

well my fave player ever is zidane. one thing cool about him is that desptie his obvious temperamental problems and flaws, he still remains (at least amongst my friends) very well liked and respected. despite gettnig red cards occasionally, he was a nice guy. but he did have the temper flaring thing. against his usual character though.

figo, other than all the barca fans, generally seems to be quite well liked as well.

if one talks about admiration, roy keane generally comes high on the lists when i discuss with my friends. of course, he is still disliked and hated quite a bit as well. but its mixed with admiration.

zola is also a good choice. so far he seems to be the runaway winner.

i suppose one has to become a legend of the game, and even then, stay clean, to come as close to universal unhate-hood. pele, bobby charlton, seem quite unhated. maradona on the other hand, lol.

Have to agree with Zola, Maldini and Batistuta, but these are all legends in recent football history, all just retired (Last season for Maldini now).

My 'vote' would go to Jimmy Bullard. Still playing and can't wait for him to start playing regularly again after his injury. It's refreshing to see people enjoying their football for what it is, rather than for things that come with it.
