I was really sorry for him when he got sent off in the match against Nigeria in USA94, very very unfairly tbh; can't forget the way he fell to his knees and started crying

I'm a Man Utd fan and I actually don't love Scholes... I'm not sure why, heh.
But Le Tissier, Giggs, Zola, Bergkamp are great examples.
I liked how Batistuta stayed loyal to Fiorentina when they went down too.
Maldini?
I wouldn't include Batistuta in that list. While was a truly great player in his day, he was FORCED to stay on with Fiorentina, with the then chairman reasoning that "they who got us relegated will be the ones to get u spromoted again". I recall a certain Effenberg in that same Fiorentina squad - hardly a soft guy himself.
Anyway, Batistuta went on to leave Fiorentina on a sour note when he went to Roma, and then did practically the same thing when he left Roma for Inter...
But this not to say that Batistuta was one of those 'Edmundo-kind' players (to remain on a Fiorentina theme)
Heh, I remember reading somewhere that a Barca-related magazine did write something after he left along the lines of...
"...And we wish Henrik Larsson and his family all the best. He recently left Barca to spend more time with his family in his native homeland. What we didn't expect, however, was that his family lived in Manchester."
