I've downloaded the long awaited patch and now have further disappointment because it doesn't seem to work due to me having Windows XP? Can anyone out there help, or is it a case of me having to buy a later copy of Windows to run this patch? Any help would be much appreciated! I can't wait to get up and running.

The patch works fine on WinXP. What do you mean when you say the patch isn't working? Can you not install it?

Of course it works with XP. Try downloading it again if it aint working, maybe the downloads went awry (as my 1st attempt did...)

Check the file size is the same as whatever is listed in the main link - should be 105MB iirc?

Are you getting an error message? If so what does it say?

I've got no trouble with the patch on XP here.

I'm not at my PC right now, so not sure of the exact error message, but off the top of my head it says... 'cannot run on Win...' something. I'm not the most computer literate so maybe i'm just being a numpty... I downloaded it, download completed, then i tried to run it, but no joy? Any help would be great!

Two complete guesses:

Either your download was corrupted, or you've accidently got the wrong version of the patch (possibly the Mac version?).

Either way, downloading the patch again would sort it (if I'm right that is)

yeah i have XP professional and it works fine for me.
why do you think it's due to having XP?

It does indeed sound like you have a corrupted or incorrect version of the patch. Re-download the correct patch for the correct platform and let us know if you have any further issues.

Given the aggressive nature of the average FM fan I'd expect cars burning in the streets if what was claimed in the original post was true.
