Defo went for the PC version... the one ending exe. At the risk of sounding like a complete tool, i should just be able to download it, then double click on the icon to get it going, shouldn't i? Or have i missed out a vital part of the process. I never thought i'd have to go through all this when i bought it. I've never felt the need over the past 8 years or more. Hopefully the wait will be worth it. Sure it will

| You're right: it is a simple case of downloading it and then running it. That's all you will need to do. If you're sure you got the right version, then it may be possible you downloaded a corrupt version of the patch. Download it again and it should be fine.

OK, thanks for all your help. Hope the title of the discussion doesn't unsettle too many people. It's clearly just me! Just one last thing, i used this: http://204.155.67.168/patch/fm08/FM2....0.1_Patch.exe.
Is it likely that i went for the right one? And if not, what would be best? Again, apologies if i'm asking obvious questions. This kind of thing isn't my strongest point...

This thread has a variety of mirrors to chose the patch from. Should be fine from any of these sources.

That's definately one of the PC (boxed version) mirror sites. It could be a corrupt download.... I tried to use that link last night, took three attempts before I even got the info box up where you start the download from and it bombed out on me after about ten minutes (just got progressively slower and then dropped the connection).
Try one of the other links in there for the same version (Rapidshare normally seems pretty reliable to me).
