Some advice please.

I only recently updated to 8.0.1 but have followed the problems I've read a few others are having. Today I had a go myself and had problems with fm colours.xml too.

Basically the only way the game seems to read the file is to put it in the program directory:

Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\data\updates\update-801\data\settings\fm colours.xml

I've tried putting that directory structure within a skin:

skinname\updates\update-801\data\settings\fm colours.xml

and it won't read it in the normal place:

skinname\settings\fm colours.xml

Surely there is a way to include it within a skin. Am I just missing something obvious? It's daft having to put the files in the program folder and not within a skin fmf in the user data folder. More than one skin with changed fm colours and you can't use them both as you have to overwrite files.

I'm also presuming I'd find the same problem if i tried to included edited versions of any of the skin files that come with the 801 update (panels, graphics).

Fingers crossed there is a way to do it - otherwise it's a bit of a disaster.

Aww. I've just noticed a thread further down on this issue - ah well.

Be nice to know how to get it working though none the less - nothing concrete in the other thread.

I have the enite contents of fm colours.xml inside my myskin.xml in mydocs\si\fm08\skin\myskin.

Anytime I start the game with the cache off I have to reload the skin, but...it works.

Yeah good point. Not the best way to do it mind.

I've not tried them but like I say there were a few panels and graphics included in the patch too so if the fm colours.xml doesn't work then I guess those won't either.

No real solution for them.

I think that it isn`t only problem. Similar with fonts.
