I wonder I any of you guys can help with the problem I have reagrding changing skins. I have unistalled & reinstalled FM08 plus the patch since I posted the problem below. The current state of play is I now have skin options for the default skin & metallic - but other skins within the folder are ging ignored.
Original Post: Unable to change skins in ‘preferences’. Only 2 skins now show up in the drop down box (Metallic & Stelko.) The FM2008 default skin has disappeared! Currently on 'Metallic' and if I try and change to any other skin the game just locks up. Until recently I have been able to change skins with no problems. Can anyone advise me on this annoying problem? Should I reload FM 2008?
Really Strange! I emptied the skin folder, reloaded the game and it displayed in the FM08 default skin. So I then moved 3 skins back to the skin folder, went to preferences and 'Metallic' was shown as the current skin! The box did not offer any alterative skins (including the default skin!). Currently I am stuck with metallic - that seems to override the default skin. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Your problem is that metallic skin IS one kind of default skins.
Same as Bluestone skin or few of them else.
You have to open your folder setup where you put that metallic skin and move FMF file named "Metallic" out of there. Just delete it and original default skin would be on again.

Thanks, but I have already tried emptying my skin folder and the reloading the game. The result is I get the FM default skin. BUT, when I then move say, 3 skins (Metallic, Bluestone & Flex) back to my skin folder and go to preferences to change skins - the game shows Metallic as the skin in use without my changing to it. More frustrating is that the other 2 skins do not appear in the drop down box. I particularly wanted to try out the Flex skin, but I have never had the option.
If I cannot find a solution to this problem, how difficult would it be for me to say, edit the FM default skin? Is this possible and is it something I could learn from this forum or does one have to be a real techie?
