For the attribiutes you've listed right at the top which are required for the different instructions, what values are considered sufficient for your Newcastle side? eg. what values of OTB, Pace and Acceleration would be required for allocation of rarely, mixed and often?

but from what i understand, the way Ackter sets up his team is by personally assesing each player and putting individual instructions to their strengths.
I find this really interesting and it was what i tried to do in FM07 although with no success at all.
What do you use in your team instructions and if everyone is on their own instructions don't they sometimes clash and the whole team goes out of shape?
Sry if i have been ignorant.
Yeah it's very important to find the balance between the team and the individuals. Compromises have to be made, and some individual risks will have to be made in order to get the players working as a team.
James 8 - I'll get back to you later this evening (unless someone else beats me to it.)

For Premiership players I'd consider 15/16 being the minimum in each needed attribute. I'll sometimes make compromises depending on a player's other attributes, but I always try and get these right.
I use 12 as the minimum needed for a 'Mixed' game at Premiership level.
Anything from 11 under gets the easiest option for that player. The less you ask them to do things they have trouble with, the less mistales they should make.

Hmm that would be a very nice way to play the game as it makes things much simpler. Also it makes sense to play to each players strengths.
Might give it a shot.

alright played my first game with these settings. very similar to yours in terms of player instructions.
Team instructions were:
Attacking, Direct, Slow, Narrow style with a deepish line.
The direct, slow might the the cause because i think it contradicts each other. But i left it like that as based on my teams stats, slow tempo suited them and players that i did not set their passing i left on team, which is direct.
I watched the full match which ended 0-0 against West Ham. I was Liverpool.
From the match i saw what i had initially sort of feared.
Because of the mentalities split between only Defensive and Attack, my team was split in 2, one in my own half and one in their half.
Because of this and the direct style, Players had trouble finding their team-mates. My defence had the most possesion of the ball but after deciding that nobody was nearby, they would punt it up the field.
From what i've seen in FM08, the ball physics has changed slightly. The ball always skips off the surface and goes out.
