god damn it, another match where i am huge favourites playing against last position on the ladder at home, im sitting in 5th. so i decided to play an attacking brand of footy try to get 3 or 4 goals. well what do you know it, the only goal i score is from a penalty, they equalise in the last 10 mins of play and im left thinking what the hell i did wrong with my tactics. i know its my tactics but i cant seem to get it right. i want to play attacking footy and be successful. i increase mentality, i play short passing with wide running wingers, i close down more to upset them, i increase individual mentalities, what am i doing wrong? i really dont know much about formations maybe there wrong. i just use the basic 442 style and push the defensive line up and have long runs on the wingers, i set the midfilders to be more attacking to get them in close to goals. still no success its very frustrating, please help. league 2 by the way.
Just go back to basics, its easy to get, you just need to know how to do it! Only change things that you know are good, for me I know nothing about CF so I leave everyone the same except for my "creative player" MatÃ*as Fernández! Who is on 15ish, and so on. Things like through balls should be more often and sometimes in attacking situations, give the defenders sometimes forward runs so they don't contradict the normal/high defensive line and leave gaps. . . Things like that, you only waited 9 hours Rather impatient don't you think? Just playing.
One thing I would try is not giving your wingers long runs, play them a bit deeper so they play in front of their opponent and be patient in the buildup but keep good width in your play and your superior quality should pay off more times than not.
Don't make it easy for a defensive team who's sitting back by having your players get into their 'final' position too early as I suspect the wingers might do.
Perhaps it's because you're in league 2? It's hard for teams that try and play nice football down there because you haven't got quite the quality of players you need for it, the pitches are usually poorer which can disrupt a short game and the opposition are more physical and often play direct/long ball tactics which can effect passing teams. Also, are you playing to the strengths of your players? It's no good trying to play like Arsenal if all your players are capable of is hoofing it up to the big man, or playing wingers if they're all slow and can't cross.
