How to counter the 4-1-2-1-2 (strikers w sarrows)?
Just like the topic title says: How do I deal with the opposition using this formation? I'm playing as Heerenveen in my 2nd season and doing quite well. I'm currently second placed in the league behind Ajax who use the formation described. They are the only team I really struggle against both home and away and it feels as if I can't really beat them. I have brought in some top quality players so we are fairly even in that department.
They look dangerous every time they attack and I can't seem to counter the effect of their two strikers going wide while sending their AM and two MCs forward into space in the middle. I have everyone on tight zonal marking at the back to prevent my DCs getting stretched wide and have my full backs on lower closing down, 6, than usual and just one notch above my DCs in mentality which is set to 5 or 6 away and 7 or 8 at home. I also focus passing down the wings to avoid their crowded centre. Nothing seems to help though.
How do YOU counter this formation?

pause the game around 20 minutes in, too see where most of the play is coming from, such as passing, and you may be able to identify target men. stop fwr on full backs and opposition instructions close down and tackle hard if low bravery on those where most of the play is coming from, try lowering mentlity and implementing counter attack. hope this helped
