Was just wondering what everybodys Pre-Match andHalf Time team talk strategy's were... I tend to get a bit paranoid when results aren't going my way, i tend to think it's because the players don't listen to me before and during the game. So what does everyone else do? Such as 2-0 down at half time? 2-0 up etc...
If i'm leading 2-0 at half time (that doesn't happen often). I usually tend to just tell my players to go out and enjoy the rest of the game. I once tried telling them not to get complacent and we lost 5-2.
If losing it depends who its to. As i'm southampton and in the premiership being 2-0 down is not all that uncommon, so against a top team i will encourage them.
i very rarely criticise because most of my team seem to get upset very easily so it all just backfires.
It all depends on the mentality/personality of your players.
Before the game if I'm favourite to win by a small margin, I say: "You Can Win Today," and even if I'm all out favourite to win, I still sparingly use "Expect a Win" because usually the team ends up playing bad for some reason. If I'm an underdog, I say "Wish Luck."
At half-time if I'm winning, I say "don't get complacent" and if I'm losing I either "encourage", or say that "I want to see more from you after half".
It's not all down to the half-time talk. Usually if a team is losing, they'll change their tactic to an attacking one, and you have to change yours to a defensive/counter tactic.
Sometimes I tell my star striker that I have "faith in his ability" but I find that usually works negatively for some reason.
Anyways, this worked for me with the beta patch, and so far with the new patch I have 2 wins and a tie. Also keep in mind I'm playing in the Blue Square Premier.
Yeh i'm Eastleigh in the Blue Square Premier and im 16th and finding results tough at the moment. Interesting in what others do cos i never use 'wish luck'... But otherwise just what i thought really. Cheers guys. Good on ya Southampton fan (i hope!) - If only we could get back in the Premiership in real life. Ha!
I usually let my assistant manager handle it, but if I have to do it myself, I would follow this tips that comes within the game: be more demanding when at home, and be more encouraging when in away game.
