Default Using downloaded gradients

Hey everyone,

I downloaded a new gradient file from a tutorial someone (I forget where) and I was wondering how you install it into photoshop. When I double click on it, photoshop opens,, but I can't see that its available under my list of gradients. I wasn't sure if you had to actually copy the file to a folder somewhere with the rest of PS's files of what. \:]

Thanks

You need to Load the gradients Linok.

The easiest way is to put them into the Photoshop > Presets > Gradients folder.

Give the file a distinct name first.

Select the Gradient tool.
Click on the Gradient Swatch in the Options Bar.
This opens the Gradient editor.
There is a small drop down arrow beside the "OK" button. Click on this and the newly named file will be there.
Select it and you will have them available from the Gradient Palette.

You have various options: replace, reset to default, add to existing or save swatches.
Twiddle with the buttons to understand what goes on.

Hope that helps, Al.
